OH, just saw ABT has a good price on the 65ST60.

Well here is a good way to get the VT60 in your price range as long as you can get a credit card. The Chase Freedom card is offering $200 cash back on your first $500 spent. in addition they are giving 5% cash back on purchases from Amazon until the end of December. My advice, sign up for the card then call them to get the card shipped to you overnight. You can then save $275 from Amazon on your purchase and also get 15 months of free financing.

Yeah ABT has a great price on the ST and I'd be getting $150 signup bonus, 10% shopdiscover cashback, and 5% cashback on $1500, then 1% on the rest. Makes the ST a fantastic deal (and VT was too). Unfortunately since I'm in NJ Amazon is not as attractive anymore due to additional cost of tax now. I already have a Chase Freedom card so that wouldn't be possible. I could use the discover through Amazon that way though, just $50 less on the signup bonus is the only difference. Tax is hurting the total a bit. Thanks for the tip though smile.gif I really don't want to drop down to the ST model, but for me the ZT pricing is a hard pill to swallow even with all the cashback (since it's starting point is $3200). I will want to get an extended warranty somewhere as well.

Does the Chase 5% on Amazon have to be fulfilled by Amazon or can you order from Paul's TV through Amazon and receive the discount? I wouldn't have to pay sales tax that way. Also, does Paul's TV price match within 30 days after purchase work? I would be giving up the amazon price protection if I went this way.

It just says Amazon.com. You can call Chase to verify.

As far as price protection, pretty sure that is only for TVs from Amazon. Third party TV sales does not list price guarantee like you see on the ones sold by Amazon.

That's a great question. I'm not sure how that works. Didn't think of it.

In terms of the ZT, you could also order through Abt.com and then have a CS rep modify the price on the existing order or issue a partial refund. Abt.com will price match within 30 days or a purchase.
It's not going to work for me because the Amazon 5% enrollment ends today and I can't get approved with a card number in less than 10 days. Bummer.

I thought about that and it could possibly work but it does take 8 weeks for the shop discover cash back to post and them going in and doing the price adjustment may cancel out the shop discover cash back (or it may not). Who knows lol. I know I'm trying to "work the system" here so I suppose I can't get too greedy. biggrin.gif Best case scenario is abt lowers their price on the ZT themselves.

I just went ahead and ordered the 60" VT60 from ABT through shopdiscover to get the 10% cashback. Came out to a good savings over trying to get a 65" from Amazon or Paul's. I can live with the 60", it will still be the biggest tv that I own haha. Thanks for the help guys.

I was thinking of doing this too. Realistically the 60 is plenty big for my house but eeehh. Only readers of this forum would understand biggrin.gif

I understand and would have jumped on the 65" if it were still available on abt with that nice discount.

I'm sure you would have. Just got home from work and my Discover card was waiting for me in the mailbox in record time. I only just applied on Tuesday evening. It's time to decide soon biggrin.gif

Picked one up today from Best Buy for $2100 out the door.

Just need to wall mount to keep this bad boy away from the kids.

How did you manage that ?
Would love to grab a 65 inch. Unfortunately it would require me to finance it which apparently I don't qualify for at amazon. (No Credit) Is best buy any more lenient? I guess I can always hope my tax return could cover it.

this tv probably won't be around when you get your tax return.

They had it for 2299. They priced matched ABT which had it for 1990 yesterday. So with tax and a small gift card it was 2105.

ABT hasn't had the 65" inch in 4-5 days and won't be getting more. Don't know how you showed them it at 1990. Congrats on the purchase though!

Right, are you sure you're not confused with the ST60?

ABT has the 65ST60 for $1995 right now and no 65VT's in stock so it must be the ST.

I hope he confused them and got the VT and not the other way around. VT was not on abt and definitely wasn't 1990.

Great for you if you scored a P65vt60 for $1990 but it just doesn't add up. I was one of the lucky one's who was able to get ABT to price match Amazon's price of $2149.00 on Cyber Monday. And then every day since Cyber Monday I have checked ABT's website to check for price drops. Within no time at all they we're sold out of P65VT60's. I specifically talked to a rep who said they weren't getting any more in stock. So I'm just a little confused on how you got Best Buy to price match something that didn't exist? Do you have your models confused. If you did get a P65VT60 I'm happy for you but I've been following this stuff pretty closely like a lot of other guys here and it's not adding up. ABT has been out of the P65VT60's for days now and I've been checking daily for either new stock or price reductions to have my purchase price adjusted. Help us figure this all out.

Bought the 65" VT 60 from ABT back in November for $2648. got the $265 back from Discover for 10%, $75 for the 5% on up to $1500 spends, 1 % on the rest. Also got Discover to cut me a check for the Discover price protection from Cyber monday that Amazon had at $2149. Price difference of $499. Overall I got the 65VT60 for $1797

$1599 55VT60 from BestBuy today. Yesterday, actually, but when I got the box home it had clearly been opened before, was missing a number of things and had over 30 hours and 34 power cycles on it. Took it back and swapped it out for a fresh one (fired up with only 4 hours on it and 4 power cycles).

Seems to work well enough, offers a picture much like the 50" Elite that was sitting in it's place (moving that to the master bedroom). Kinda miss the ka-clink the relay on the Elite would make when power cycling... heh.

This is similar to the price I was going to end up at had they not actually run out of them and ruined my plans. So are you saying I could buy the 65ZT60 from abt.com for $3199.00 and get all the cashback, then call Discover directly and show them Pauls TV pricing of $2899.99 and Discover price protection would refund me the $300? I'm afraid if I just order it, then call ABT for a price adjustment/match that I might lose the 10% cashback from shopdiscover. I want to decide on something soon because now ABT has jacked the 65ST60 up to $2348 from the $1995 (or whatever it was). I don't want them to run out of ZT's next and all 3 options for a really great deal are dead.

Correct I was told that if you do a price match through abt that they might nullify the 10%. Lady at discover says just to initiate a price protection claim ... Takes a little bit longer to do but is the safest route

Wait, the fresh one had 4 hours and 4 power cycles when you first turned it on? Mine as well as other owners' new ones had 0 hours when first powered on. Personally, I wouldn't accept a new one with any hours on it. That's a used display and should be sold as such.

I agree, I had both a virgin ZT and VT in the past few days. BB opens the boxes on the delivered ones to verify the panels aren't broken, but they do NOT turn them on as far as I know. Both of mine had ZERO hours on them, and one of them is your identical model. Maybe some of them are pulled and sampled at Panasonic before they are boxed up and sent to the final destination? Speakerphile can probably answer this.

Hell, my Sammy F4500 WAS open box and it still had zero hours on it (buyer's remorse thing I assume).

I also finally figured out what the difference is that I'm seeing between the ZT and the VT, and that's the sharpness of edges on people, texts and objects. On the VT all the edges are just a little softer because of the internal reflection against the front glass. I remember the Kuros also having a ridiculous amount of sharpness around objects and texts but for a different reason which I believe was something about the way they manufactured their plasma cells or some other "cell" related improvement that was always in their marketing mumbo-jumbo. Crystal emissive or some such thing. Don't know if this is part of the engineering tech that Panasonic acquired and integrated.
