Yes, very reputable. VE is a high-end B&M store on the east coast. They are famous for their HDTV shootouts attended by the top AV experts in the country. I think there was an article about it on AVS.

Funny. I saw that one pop up briefly when I did a google search yesterday. Definitely won the award for the sketchiest looking ad I've seen since I started looking for a deal before the holidays (and now that I have one just watching the prices go up to make me feel good about my purchase wink.gif ).

One came up a few days ago and the store was simply named 'New Electronics Store' with no feedback, not as ridiculous a price but a completely incorrect product photo associated with the listing. I think that gets second place in the sketchy awards.

Not seeing that. Must have been sold.

I actually e-mailed the seller just to see what they would say. Here is the response:

The Panasonic TC-P65VT60 65-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Smart Plasma HDTV (Includes 2 Pairs of 3D Active Glasses and Built-in Camera) is new, US model (not grey market or refurbished, brand new, never used). The product is in new condition, comes with 24 months international warranty, receipt, all manufacturer supplied accessories.
The total price is $1.390,00 ( because i have some promotional offer for Holidays ) including all shipping taxes if you are in US and for international shipping you have to pay extra 5,99 $ .
If you want to buy, send me your phone number, full name, shipping address and i will contact Amazon asap to process your order. Dispatch is by normal UPS Services, which takes 2-5 days depending on where in the US you are.
My return policy is full money back in 21 days.

Everything is wrong about this but the best part for me is that it will be shipped via "normal UPS Services"

Has anyone anywhere in the country been able order a 65VT60 from Best Buy yesterday or today? I'm having a issue with them and they claim there are none left anywhere to replace a damaged one I already got from them.

No but I saw that the 60ZT is available.

Yeah, I've already got a new 60VT, only looking for a 65" now.

Unfortunately, this is true. Open box only, and very few, if any, available.

Pilot just delivered mine. Two guys. They put it on the stand. October build. Looks perfect. Have to wait to turn it on because it's so cold.

OK Ceva delivered my second 65VT60 and it is an October build. The set was cold so I just fired it up and powered back off. I let it sit about 4 hours and just updated the firmware and started the slides.

So I have a third VT60 sitting at Brandsmart in Doraville GA that cost me basically $2398 or add $359 with 5 year warranty. If anyone in the are wants it either you can go with me, pay me and take TV or wait with me as I return it and repurchase it, otherwise ithe sale will be cancelled tomorrow at lunch. If interested let me know.

Thanks, I've taken this matter to the corporate level now because of everything that happened. I'll either come back praising them or bashing them depending on the outcome.

I was able to get a 60" display unit at Best Buy for $1717 including tax so they do still have them. They had trouble actually selling it to me because their system didn't think they had one in stock anymore.

I didn't see any physical damage or any obvious signs of burn in. Should I be worried about the life of the unit? Anything else obvious to check? Going to pick it up tonight and I have 15 days to evaluate it so if nothing else, I can just return it. Forgive me if these questions seem stupid, I'm somewhat out of the loop when it comes to TVs as this is my first purchase in about 5 years.

I just found a 60" VT 60 selling for 1400 when I checked the hours it shows C3016. Does that mean it has 3000 plus hours on the TV

Yes.

Wow, that's a lot of hours. If everything looks good on it, I would try and talk them down a lot more then that price.

Also found a 55vt60 at Paul's tv for 1900 with 2000 hours the 60vt was at a bestbuy.. I will keep searching for now...

3k hours seems like a lot, but the panels are rated at 100k+ hours...

WAAY too much for that one for sure. Hell BB was selling that for 1599 brand new a few days ago.

I bought a 60VT60 at PC Richard with ~2400 hours for $1275. There is a slight bit of burn-in from their display video, but it's been going away the more I use the wipe function.  This TV is amazing, and I feel that I got a really good deal on it.

The Best Buy near me has a 60" ST60 with a bad scratch in the antiglare coating that they offered to me for $500, and "we can probably go lower".  I seriously considered it and have been thinking of ways to remove the film without damaging the screen.  That also had an excellent picture.

While I wouldn't say that's a rock bottom price, it is more than 20% off the clearance price. For demo that is about the price to look for. This assumes all else is well with it. No IR, no physical damages, all accessories(remote and glasses are the only ones).

Be careful of IR on that BB ST60. It was most likely used on their Panasonic feature display and if it was there for enough hours, the "Panasonic" logo in the center of screen would be almost impossible to fully wipe. When you combine that with the scratch, that's about what that TV's worth. I wouldn't take any TV with discenable IR at any price, but that's just me.

Good call.  I am somewhat disappointed in the burn-in on my VT60, but it has been fading so I think it will most likely either go away entirely or won't be noticeable without me looking for it, which is fine for me.  I'm not a true videophile, and the picture, even with the burn-in that my set had when I first got it, is far and away the best picture i've ever seen.

Yeah, especially when you can get a new 60ZT60 from BB for 2299, if they have them in your area...

There was no love for me on VTs from BB in this area.

Your VT's IR probably is no where near as severe as the Panasonic feature demo creates, so I'd bet with some time you can get it to fade significantly or maybe just go away altogether.

Add me to the list of someone not real thrilled with IR. Had slides run the first 100 hours. Kid watched 2 episodes of bubble guppies and the damn nick jr logo is really being stubborn. I realize that eventually it will go away, but, grrr, just don't like seeing that. My wife is also on my case b/c I asked her to not watch anything that has a static logo.

They took you for a ride IMO if that was for a VT, the thing is on closeout at 1799 new. I would remind them of that and see what you can get it down to. Check the hours on it and get them to run "screen wipe" and look very closely for burn in or other issues, if you find any use that as bargaining power. Lastly, get a manager involved.

Unfortunately, I've already paid for it so I doubt I can haggle at this point. I probably should have tried to put it on hold then ask around but lesson learned. My previous TV crapped out on Tuesday so we were in the market for one right away and I figured it was a good deal.
