Panasonic VT60 Deals... - Page 10

This deal is really tempting. I have a 60" Kuro myself and I sit about 10-10.5 feet back. As much as I would love a 65" set, I honestly have never had an issue about my current 60" being to small. I am temped because I could sell my current set and get this for a few hundred out of pocket versus getting the 65" VT60 (which would cost me a grand easily after I sell my current set).

I'm not affiliated or plugging any retailer but relating an experience I had.

Alot of members here have used B and H Photo and for good reason.
My experience with them was quite unique and pleasurable..
...my panel arrived and wasn't up to snuff so I called expecting the get a service call but instead they
immediately shipped a replacement after simply having me do a test, then
instructed me to use the return label they included in the new box set and emailed..no extra BS, nothing.
Eventually I needed to call Panasonic 2 years later to order a plug-in module and needed tech and
Panasonic said BH was an upper tier retailer.

When your spending this kind of $.. IMO go with the
retailer who gets the highest priority treatment and latest versions from Panasonic.

I'd also certainly consider our web forum sponsors, I put them right up there with BH.

If I had a 60 inch Kuro I wouldn't even considering a Panasonic 60VT, I can't believe the PQ can surpass the Kuro.

I agree. I am also concerned about IR issues compared to my kuro (I have never had any at all). I guess I just wanted to check out the new tech but it is hard to justify unless I could get the 65" VT60 for a few hundred out of pocket. It's crazy that a 3+ year old tv can still hold it's own. I think I have the red tint issue that many of the kuro's suffer from but even with that, the image is still amazing (never watch movie's in complete darkness so I can't see it 99% of the time).

I suspect most of these price matches won't work in Canada...what kinds of prices or price matching have been found in the great white north?

I never experienced any kind burn-in on my Kuro and IR is almost nonexistent. I never ran any slides or anything like that.

It seems like today's PDP's are more susceptible to burn-in, which could be do to companies like Panasonic trying to make them brighter.

For anyone that jumped on that Amazon deal on Saturday, their 14 day price match policy covers paulstv.com. I submitted a claim to match Paul's $2k price for the 60vt60, though they may not match it since it uses a coupon code. I'll let you know if they honor it.

Also, thanks to this community for catching the Amazon price drop and saving me a few hundred already!

Update: That was quick. They didn't honor the coupon because it's a limited time offer. Oh well, it was worth a try.

I bought P65VT60 from local best buy/magnolia half an hour back before they were closing early for July 4th. They priced match Abe of Maine, who is listed in their system as authorized dealer. The BB has it on sale for 3100 and they sold it to me for Abe's 2535 price match plus free delivery.

They said they will do price match in 15 days period. Anyone has experience with it? I don't think VT60 price will come down at least till Sep.

I was surprised to learn that their return policy is 15 days and no longer 30 days. Tried to sell me 4 years magnolia warranty but turned it down. Not sure if that is wise decision.

I love bby's plans because they cover burn in. Got full credit back for my old set just because it had IR

They only had 4 years for 400. Which I think is a bit high. Granted they mentioned about how they offer coverage beyond manufacturer, replacements, upgrades if set is no longer in available, etc. They had no option for 1, 2, or 3 years.

I just got the 65" S64 since I was concerned over the gaming lag of the St60. But after adding tax and shipping, this 60VT60 deal is less than $500 more. I sit about 10-11 feet away. Am I nuts for considering this instead?
I went from a 65s60 to a 60st60, about same distance as you, and don't regret. The VT will be even better!

I'm sitting 10 feet out and have fully adjusted from a 50" 111FD to a 65" ZT60 with no pixel structure visible. I can get closer (8 feet?) and still not be susceptible to it.

What did you have before the 60" out of curiosity? I really like this 50 --> 65 upgrade...and can even imagine a larger picture from my seating distance (same as yours).

It's early days, but my ZT60 looks to be no more susceptible to IR than the Kuro that it replaced.

I have only had Pioneer Kuro's for the past 5-6 years and before that was a Sony LCD. I have had the current 60" Kuro for a little over 3 years. The main reasons I have not upgraded are that there has been nothing better picture wise and the lack of IR or burn in with the Kuro. Panasonic has been notorious for having bad IR, at least any model before the VT60. That is what has scared me away from it initially. I'm spoiled by the Kuro having Zero IR not matter how long I leave something paused or play a game with a HUD on the screen. I just went to BB again to look around and I am impressed with the picture of the VT60. The ZT60 is nice also but the VT60 looks almost identical so that would do for me.

Just for info as you may already know... Panasonic purchased Pioneers Kuro patents a few years ago and are now being used in the latest upper end TC-P65VT60.

I have heard conflicting reports on that. For instance, it seems like they didn't purchase any of the anti-IR tech that the Kuro uses. Now I admit I don't have confirmed reports on the VT60 that you mentioned IR wise but I know before that no Panasonic plasma exhibited any type of anti-IR like the kuro (not even close to be honest). From what I read they did purchase some of Pioneer's tech but the now discontinued Elite LED tv's honestly look like they got most of the tech (black levels are still insane on those even though they are LED) or at least quite a few of the ex Pioneer engineers worked on it. I always thought that if Panasonic truly bought all of the tech from Pioneer, they should have had a Kuro model 2-3 years ago.

I admit I haven't heard any reports about IR issues on the VT60 lineup though and that is most likely the one I would go for.

And that is employee cost gents! I used to work at BB and the employee costs were good, but trust me they still made money off the employees. I don't know what dealer cost on the 65vt60 is, but it is well under $2582

Waiting for delivery. Got mine from PAUL'S TV 65"VT60 + 2 YR warranty and free delivery for $2,699. Upgrading from GT series, can't wait went to BB to see it again no doubt the VT60 is the set to get incredible picture, they had it next to the other brands top tier plasma and led's, my eyes kept bringing me back to the VT60 .
so $432 more for a 65" VT over a 65" ST, worth it? was originally looking at the 65" S64 from costco

You don't get eyestrain 10 feet from a 65' ? Also, how does the ZT60 compare to 111FD?
The TV got delivered today. Running slides now. It costed me total $2760.00 out of the door including taxes (~9%) and free delivery.

Has anyone been successful with price match within 14 days? The BB/magnolia sales guy indicated that they would do price match if I can find a lower price in next 14 days.

After looking at all possible 65" VT60 deals online, I think this was the best deal I could get short of having ECTV or Abe of Maine ship it. I have been watching prices for S64, ST60 and VT60 for past 10 days.

I am planning to buy the Costco squar trade warranty since I didn't buy it with credit card.

If there are any IR issues, they should show up in 14 days?

Planning to get it wall mounted. Distance is 11 feet. The 65" looks much bigger at home than it did at the store.

Nope...well, I take that back. I watched my first 3D film and that did cause some eye strain. wink.gif

The ZT60 is very close to the 111FD. I no longer have the latter, but when doing a side-by-side, it was difficult to tell which one was deeper black level-wise, as they were so close. While comparing, I didn't notice any other stark differences between the panels (perhaps slightly more brightness with the 111FD) but since I have not had the ZT60 pro calibrated, I don't think it's fair to make anymore comparisons beyond that.

$2582.99 is the employee cost for the ZT not the VT. The employee cost for the VT is a few hundreds less.

For those looking to buy a 65VT60 Paul's tv has a $500 off coupon now on this tv bringing the final price down to $2599 (which is $100 below what I bought it for couple of days ago)
Bought the tcp60vt60 for 1930 at pauls in nashua nh by bringing in the pauls website deal for 1999.99 using coupon code 4july1. And then I also brought in the fatwallet coupon showing the 3.5% cash back thing. So I paid 1930 with amex express which also collects airline miles. But I did not push my luck by asking for 3.5% off 2599.99 to be deducted from 1999.99 if I made sense there. That would have been about 90 off instead of 70.

I basically wanted to buy local and not have to deal with fat wallet and internet ordering.

I cannot wait to get it up and running as it will be replacing a crappy 32 inch sharp I bought years ago.
Best buy had the 60VT60 for 2268.98 last week just tell the magnolia guys you friend bought it for that, and want to but the five year GSP (Honestly worth the cost on TVs) and they probably ok it since panasonic isn't price protected
post #298 of 3266
I realize this might not be the best thread for this but pauls extended warranty was really pricey to get 3-4 more years. Amex express adds an additional year for me but i am also a costco member. What do people think of their square trade deal? 3 more years for 99 dollars? Or dont i need one? I have to admit i rarely buy the extended warranty options. If the tv works for a year i tend to think it will go plenty more if properly protected from electrical surges or abuse. Thoughts?

I never buy extended warranties either, bought a 55" VT50 from Pauls in December this is my 4th Panasonic Plasma in 6 years and never have had a problem with any of them.
