Quote:Actually this is not true, the warranty does apply. These people who export must bring the set back to the US for service. Ask all the people in Canada who shop just across the border. They do not loose the warranty just because they take it into Canada.
I did not include companies that have been in business for a very long period of time and that are mom and pop shops. (Forgot about those ) Not all, but most of those companies mentioned are big or lets say bigger than most. Most of those have been around the block far longer than other companies, and are grandfathered in. Even the "exact" name HH Gregg is not on the list, I see something mighty close but never the less ........ There are hundreds of small custom installers who buy thru distribution that are not on the list as well, and yes hundreds. Not Just for Panasonic but just about every other brand as well.
Authorized / unauthorized dealers have been talked about on here forever. In the end it always comes down to, point to a post where someone did not get warranty coverage when they had a receipt, a receipt with a company logo / name of a company that could be looked up as legitimate business in a particular state who actually sell products. Must also have a date and rolling invoice number. According the the www.ftc.gov that is all that is needed. They are the ones who approve every warranty in the US.
This is how it was explained to me in the end by the "big" guys. To each his own though, this topic has been talked about since we joined a long time ago.......
