This is Herb from Cross-Spectrum, sorry to hear about the mic. To put folks mind at ease, I most certainly did not knowingly ship a broken mic, it not worth losing or having a black mark against my engineering license over $50. I have had a couple of foreign mic shipments that were received broken (UK and Australia) and there have been several customers that have had the barrel snap off when they dropped the mic, so I suspect the UMM-6 is (unfortunately) delicate.
Something that I don't publicize, but I will do so now, again to put folks mind at ease - whenever there is an issue with an overseas mic, I generally don't require that mic to be shipped back to me, I just ship out a replacement and take the loss (I'm hopeful that me announcing this won't result in a rash of foreign customers ripping me off).
If you get a mic from me that has a problem, please contact me and I'll make it right. In the case of someone overseas receiving a broken item, I'll ship out a replacement ASAP and make an insurance claim with USPS, but it's too late for that in Freniata's case. Freniata, if you're okay with your mic, fine, but if not, email/pm me directly and I'll see what I can do for you.
If the barrel is glued on straight, the calibration should be fine. But if you don't trust it (and I'll understand if you don't, I'm not sure I would), contact me
and I'll get you fixed up.
