Glad to hear that. Now check out my answer to what I assumed was your blu ray problem:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1470900/official-samsung-unxxf7100-owners-thread/990#post_23465166

I assumed it sent the TV source back to "TV", instead of HDMI1 (or wherever you have your cablebox), when you shut off the devices. That has been a glitch in the HDMI-CEC implementation for all manufacturers, and I've been waiting for someone to report that it's been fixed, but, five years later, no such reports. If that's not your problem, let us know. Your TV and blu ray are OK.

Has anyone who had power cycling issue ever figure out how to fix it or should I try and get a replacement?
So did the calibration changes, yet the picture is still mediocre at times, I really think it's the input setup or something. Also I hooked up a spare Lenovo IdeaCentre as my HTPC. It's hooked up HDMI to the HDMI (DVI) #4 I think on back of the TV. It's the only HDMI input on the back, not on the side. My questions are:

1- Does anyone else use a HTPC hooked up to this, if so what is the best pc/apple HTPC you've come across.
2- I had to manually resize the picture while running the HTPC, becuase the native res went off the screen a little.
3- While resizing, I saw the hertz was set to 60Hz, tried to change it but that's the highest it goes, so will a newer HTPC push more hertz?

I will say that while watching a movie through the HTPC, it did look quite good and addressed some previous picture concerns.

I agree, the picture is GREAT!! I spent another few hours watching blu-rays and still the TV is A OK rolleyes.gif I almost trust it again even though I still get a msg pop-up when using the mouse that makes no sence. I've learned to ignore it since it goes away really quickly and has no affect on the TV's performance. I don't want to address it with Samsung right now as there is already enough the firmware guys need to look into thats way more important for all of us TV owners.

Love my 7100, a few questions if anyone can help:
1. Can't connect well with wireless. I am going to buy an extender, see if that solves issue.
2. Anyone recommend a universal remote which would work for Directv, F7100, Harmon Kardon soundbar, Samsung Blue Ray?
3. This was an open box purchase at Best Buy, got it for $1550 for 60". All apps are locked into previous owners name. I cannot erase their account without their password. Anyone with a clue how to wipe this account clean?

Appreciate any and all help. This is a great forum.

I am really confused by these damn white boxes.

With Cinema Black set to High, my wife played a movie today for about an hour with no white boxes. I come home and played the same movie and 30 minutes later the white boxes appeared. So, I switched to Cinema Black Medium and for 45 minutes no white boxes. Now, I have Cinema Black set to High again and its been almost 45 minutes and no white boxes.

So far I have done three resets (Support/Self Diagnosis/Reset/000), two of them back-to-back) and I am on firmware 1015. I only have one source (HTPC) connected to HDMI 1. Without knowing if this is a glitch with hardware or software, I think I'm just going to have to do an exchange.

Do a full system reset returning the TV to factory specifications. (Support/Self Diagnosis/Reset/0000). Once you have your WiFi working, be sure to update to the latest firmware, 1105.

I figured out why color looks wrong in PC Mode -- it actually enables full RGB 4:4:4 color. Apparently this is typical of PC Mode on hdtvs, you can find various discussions of it on the web. I verified using the test image mentioned here on my htpc: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?s=eb421d444a97a6f12757ab2f8aa1021a&p=4557704&postcount=25

I think a replacement may not be a bad way to go but if your panel is uniform with very little flashlighting, I would keep it and arrange for a repair. I got my power cycling to go away with the replacement of a Main board. The new one has the latest firmware 1105 installed. It's your call.. Good luck either way!

I wouldn't exchange. Your next TV will most likely have this problem also. Update the firmware to 1105 and then do a Factory reset. There were known issues with Cinema Black when set to Med or High with early firmware versions. Low was OK with earlier versions. It seems that a common thing with the white boxes is somhow tied to the Cinema Black feature that many forum members have seen. I also had this problem. The firmware update/factory reset/ reprogramming did work for me and has not returned for several days now. I'm very hopeful they are GONE!!!

I totally agree. I exchanged mine because of power cycling and the replacement had horrible flashlighting and had the power cycling issue as well. If your panel looks good except for the pwr cycling get it repaired.

I feel the same way about the exchange. However, I only have a few days left on my return policy and so I want to take advantage of it if needed.

The issue is definitely related to Cinema Black, as having the setting to High is the only time the issue appears. I am actually already on firmware 1105 (in my previous post accidently wrote 1015), and as a matter of fact did not start experiencing the issue until I upgraded from 1104. I have also performed three resets, two of which were back-to-back, and the problem still remains.

So, just to make sure I understand correctly - you had the white boxes, updated to firmware 1105, did a factory reset, and now when you set Cinema Black to High you don't experience the issue anymore, even after watching for more then 30 minutes?
Was testing last night and I only got power cycling when watching a letterbox blu ray with cinema black on medium after about 45 minutes. Did factory reset and turned cinema black off and it did not return. Then I tried cinema black low and it was still fine. Cinema black is definitely the culprit with not just one but two issues owners are experiencing. The white blocks and now power cycling. On my set however I have not seen the white blocks after I did a reset and updated software. Maybe I can cancel my repair and just wait for next update to be released.

Did the tech decide that had to be the route to take? I have linked my power cycling to the feature cinema black set to medium. Off or low and no cycling. Was this the same for you?

I have not had a problem with using Cinema Black set to high but I do use Medimum as my standard setting choice. I got the boxes when ver 1104 was installed. I got rid of them temporally messing with Cinema Black going from Med to Low. That stopped them from moving but they were then froze on the screen. I used the Picture OFF selection under Picture Mode settings and when I turned the picture back on with the picture off selection a 2nd time, the boxes were gone. Shortly after, I did the update to ver 1105. I had a 3D and a cinema black issue crop up after ver 1105 was installed so then I did the factory reset and all of my weird symptoms have not returned since.

The tech decided to order and replace my Main board since the factory reset did not correct the power cycling issue on my TV. After the board replacement, I have never had another power cycle. In my case it was not linked to Cinema Black as far as I know but I did the board replacement quite quickly after the power cycling started. If it was linked to Cinema Black, I would have thought it would have returned. My TV's firmware auto updated to ver 1104 shortly after it was replaced so it had the same version of firmware (1104) as the original Main Board that did power cycle. I hope this is not to confusing. My successful power cycle fix is going to be put to the test with PiratesCove's board replacement that is comming up. I am only guessing his board replaced will be the Main board but we will see. As time goes on, hopefully real soon all this stuff will be behind us. Problems can be solved, It's just is APITA during the process though.eek.gif.

Got appointment for Wednesday. When they called to schedule I had them make a note for tech to bring parts and main board just incase. Factory reset also did not fix the issue.

Hi Everyone. Officially joined the club last night. Picked up a 65F7100 last night at Best Buy. Was a cluster of a process but after 90 minutes managed to walk out the door with it. Now have to fight with them on the price matching.

Noticed immediately on Dark Knight, light image in the bottom corners in the black bars, and a light thin green horizontal line above the black bar. The picture from 15 feet is not as clear as I would expect but at 20 feet looks beautiful. I did not get to play with the settings much last night so I will make some changes tonight and see how it looks.

Running a Denon 2113 receiver and everything going thru it, sounds like I need to plug the Xbox into input 4 for the better config and lag fixes from reading the last 37 pages.

I upgraded from a 2005 40 inch Samsung. Huge difference. smile.gif

I was really looking at going for the 8500 plasma but I am a huge gamer so shy'd away due to the lag issues. Here is the view.

( I am like a kid at christmas right now smile.gif )

Just thought id post a quick update. I got my 2nd 65f7100 delivered yesterday (the first one had horrible lightbleed and vertical banding). Immediately ran every black screen test i could find, and im happy to report this new panel has no vertical banding and very little light/if any bleed around the bottom corners. Im waiting on my new wall mount to arrive so for right now its just on the stand (which i hate after having the previous one mounted). Once i get it all mounted etc ill post some pics. So far though, definitely happy with this TV, and extremely glad with my decision to swap it out for another panel.

I always had my cinema black set to low even before 1105 software and never had white boxes thank god,had the tv now for a month with just 3 power cycle, that was it loving everything about my 60",no major issue that bother me,as for flash lighting some blu-rays r more noticeable then others,so I just zoom the pic to eliminate the black bars, and then no flash lighting afterwards

Can those who have similar power cycling and white boxs issues please tell me the screen sizes you have. Do those with the 55 inch model have these issue too?

Now, I finally have a sturdy Touch Remote that won't freeze. biggrin.gif

Samsung just regained my customer support.

Phase 1- Remote fix: complete, Phase 2- Power Cycle fix: next Wed.

Now when I think about it, the delivery man back in May opened the Remote with a knife.

It took me around 10 minutes to get the replacement Remote open....eek.gif
