I'm still looking for a good calibration setting for the 7100. Has anyone had theirs calibrated?

I've been using this tv for a few days now, got it hung, and love it. I have been playing with the Smart Hub and I installed the ESPN app. Once I ran that App I could not get the ESPN app to go away! The overlay stayed around on the left part of the TV when I went back to TV. I had to turn the TV off then on again to get it to go away. Anyone have more experience with this than I do?

TIA

From the F7500 and up it has a built in camera and supports motion control. Besides that as you move up in models from the F7100 the Motion Rate increases as well as the type of local dimming each model has. Local dimming gets better as you go up in steps from the 7100 to the 7500 to the 8000.

Also starting at the 7500 you get the option to add an evolution kit down the road.

So I picked up the 55 inch yesterday, a td01 panel, but my tv must be defective as no matter what settings I use motion wise, I'm getting stuttering with tickers on the bottom of the screen, I've tried all the settings Pirate has listed, I have a genie hr34 from directv. Are you guys noticing this ? Is it just a drawback of newer led tv's ? It did have me intall a firmware update during set up. As for the picture quality, it was pretty good, no flashlighting, clouding. Just really disappointed, may try the lg la7400, or go back to the st60, and just buy a protection plan. The contrast on the f7100 doesnt compare to the st60, but I do like the flexibility or not having to worry what my kids are doing with the tv.

Go back to the ST60, contrast is the most important thing about TV's. I have a friend whose had zero problems with his plasma over 5 years and all he does is game on it. You're essentially never going to have a problem unless you take it to unreal extremes.

Hi All,

I ended up buying a UN46F7100 this weekend, and I have a little bit of a paranoid question.

Obviously, when unboxing the TV they tell you not to touch/grip/etc the glass. The problem is the bezel is so thin, you end up gripping it in some way shape or form. Should I worry about that? Would I have done any damage that way?

I'm sorry for the paranoid question. Just haven't had such a thin TV before.

Thanks All.

Try Film Mode: Auto 2 its designed for tickers and video source TV.

I use Film Mode: Auto 1 because the tickers don't bother me and most of the material I watch is film source TV.

I also have DirecTV HD.

Auto Motion Plus set to Off or Clear may help.

Good question, I had a A850 with "normal bezel", D6900 with "thin bezel" and ES7100 ( and F7100) with the ultra-thin bezel.

From my experience all bezel types are just as sturdy and touching the glass won't matter.

I have seen TV techs take apart the TV's and they have internal support so you shouldn't worry.

As long as its not "vice-grip" tight it should be Okay.

Hey Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue. In the set up when I programmed the TV it found my cable company so I selected it to download the channels to the TV. In only downloaded maybe 30 or 40 random stations, not the full amount that are available to me. So the Smart hub, which uses the downloaded list, shows these weird staions as my favorites (it is kind of embarassing that "Adult on Demand" populates my screen right next to the "gospel channel" on start up). I called Samsung and they said it was a cable company issue. The cable company said it was a compatabilty issue between my set top box and the Samsung TV and since they have no other set top HD boxes there is nothing they can do. Any else have this issue and find a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Well since no negative comments have been made about this update, I did go ahead and install it. I have to say it did update flawlessly. I did not see any changes for the worse and just mabye PQ is even better. The picture was so good to start with though I just might be just really happy with the fact it is still great! I did a bit of checking around and saw nothing added in this version. I still get my weird wireless mouse msg when exiting the browser. Oh well.... I may have noticed an improvement in the Cinama Black feature. In the past I saw really bad brightness fluctiations when on a setting higher than Low. It seemed like I didn't see that nearly as bad when set to Medium or even High. I only looked at this for a short time so this may not be true but if so, I would be glad. I'll have to watch a blu-ray later on and verify this since I'm not sure yet.

Good to hear, I may update as I really like/use Cinema Black on Low.

I also noticed the brightness flucations with Cinema Black on Medium and High.

Thanks for the update on the update wink.gif.

CMR is bogus its a 240HZ HDTV like the F8000 and ES8000 with the same Auto Motion Plus options.

Micro-Dimming is only for Standard Mode and not in Movie Mode - it dims the backlight in a darker scene.

I had the ES7100 and considered the ES8000, I even like the silver bezel more on the F7100.

How does the ES7100 compare with F7100. I am able to get the 60 inch ES7100 for $1800. How do u find the picture quality, blacks, and the viewing angles between the two sets.

Glad to do it. I did spend some more time with Cinama Black and can say for sure I was not wrong in noticing a change but now I'm not sure if the function is actually working or not. The effect is really been turned down or off. Any selection Low, Med or High is hard to see any change at all. I think I did see some change but the light setting seems to very slowly change so it is hard to say if my eyes are fooling me into thinking somthing is happening or not. The function was alot more obvious with the setting selections in the previous 1102 version. The low setting most have been using seems to no longer apply for the best choice. Can sombody else take a look at this and see how their Cinama Black functions with the new ver 1103 installed. Thanks in advance.....

The F7100 has darker blacks, better viewing angle and more accurate colors. Also the F7100 is cloud-free.

The ES7100 has a good picture also, just not better than the F7100.

Are you saying that you don't like the bezel color?

I didn't at first, yet compared to the ES7100's black bezel the F7100's blacks looks excellent against the Titan Silver ultra-thin bezel.

I also like how the bezel matches the "Silver Lining".

The stand is waaaay distracting...I have a Samsung D series traditional stand attached.

Cool pictures, is the bezel's thickness like the 60" model or the 55" and 46"?
Going to be getting the 60" delivered tomorrow. Exchanging for the st60 which unfortunately had terrible image retention from network logos but great picture.

Looking at the side view of your 65" version, it definitely looks thinner than my 60" version.

Overall, I'm very happy with this TV, even though it has a Sharp panel. I play Halo 4 on it on occassion, and have not really noticed any input lag.

I'm hoping to be like you, maybe I'll get used to that matte silver. So used to black bezels. I'm not sure if the bezel size is closer to the 60" or 55", but in thing is for sure. It's smaller than my Samy DLP.

Just picked up a 55" F7100 and I have to say going from 46" to 55" is huge! As far as my opinion on picture quality I can only compare it to my UN46B8500 and that just isn't 100% fair even though the F7100's picture quality is amazing. I am however experiencing flash lighting on the bottom corners of the set and I'm not sure if this is normal or not. If it weren't for that I'd be 100% happy with my purchase and not just 98% since I tend to stare at stuff like flash lighting until I can get over it.

Primarily I bought this set for gaming/movie watching and I'd like to give my two cents on the gaming aspect of this set. I know my B8500 has bad input lag so I just dealt with it and never seemed to have a problem playing any games except Uncharted 3. I always thought that it was just the games shooting mechanics that made the aiming so unresponsive. I fired Uncharted 3 up on the F7100 and noticed the aiming was still the same and not thinking anything of that I switched the TV to game mode and viola Uncharted 3 is now finally playable! It was really bad before, I'd let go of the analog stick and the aiming would still turn for a tiny bit and now it starts and stops when i press/release the analog stick. Now to fire up SFIV and see if I can finally hit all my combos.

I'm not quite sure, but there appears to be a slight nonuniformity to the backlight. I notice it when panning vertically, it gives the impression of a very faint shadow on the moving image. Flaw?

Can some other owners chime in about whether your sets have the same backlight quirks?

Flashlighting is part of LCD/LED tech especially edge-lit.

The extra tension on the corners effect the liquid crystals' movement/closing.

Try lowering the backlight or use eco sensor.

The side strips are because of the ultra-thin bezel, it used to be worse on the D and ES series.

They are barely noticeable- only on brighter solid screens.

The shadow is known as banding- noticeable on solid color screens.

Its due to uneven light spreading from one side of the screen to the other- edge lighting.
