I just watched Avatar 3D and Avengers today...Damn the PQs were stunning. It feels like my TV is just getting better after hours of usage. I thinking I am going to pay for a ISF/THX calibration soon.
On another note, does anyone have an OPPO 103 connected to their F7100? If so, how is the performance? I current using my PS3 as my BR 3D player. I might buy an OPPO 103 of the Sony S790.
I have an oppo 103 connected to a PN60E7000. Video performance from blu-rays like most other players is great. Where the difference is better video performance from DVDs.
You can basically throw any format at it and it will play it. If you get an UHD TV down the road it has 4K upscaling. Streaming services are a bit skimpy but it has the latest versions of VUDU and Netflix (Super HD titles if you have a participating ISP). When the player first came out they promised expanding their app selection but they made an agreement with Roku instead to provide their streaming stick at a discounted price. But you're covered with the F7100 anyways.
Audio performance is excellent from all sources but if you're an extreme Audiophile you're covered by the oppo105. The player is very well constructed and is silent
in operation. And being a smaller company you'll get a knowledgeable tech for support via e-mail or phone. Depending on how you use the player it may or may not be worth the price.
Edit: some folks run their cable/satellite receiver through their oppo 103. I mention this because I notice some folks have PQ issues from their cable/satellite providers.Edited by venus933 - 8/18/13 at 10:19am
