This is kind of weird that the downloadable avalibility is ahead of the Live Update function. Well I'm downloading it now. It's a very large file...When its done, I'l install it & report back later... Sure hope this latest version takes care of the stability issues in the Smart Hub without messing up the picture quality!eek.gif

Well the re-programming is all done after the Firmware Update and so far.. all seems very good. The picture quality is still looking Great! It is to early to tell about the stability of the Smart Hub. During the firmware update, all went OK and I didn't see anything that got messed up from installing the update but to be safe, I did the Factory Reset anyways. More comments later on after some real use with the Latest Firmware 1115.1.
I am having good experience with the latest firmware as well. I believe the picture quality has improved. Rendering of cable sources looks better to me. This was one of my grips previously and they are almost there on face render and colour. I am very happy with this set.

I have used calibration settings found here, and it looks quite accurate to me. Wondering if it would be a waste of money to get a professional calibration?

Comments?

Firmware Version 1115 still has that excellent picture...biggrin.gif

Despite my best instincts...I will wait on the reset.

Settings for DirecTV Movie, Natural, Standard and Dynamic plus Movie 3D, Standard 3D and Dynamic 3D takes time.

Not to mention Blu-ray Movie, Natural, Standard and Dynamic plus Movie 3D, Standard 3D and Dynamic 3D.

And then Xbox360 Movie, Natural, Standard and Dynamic plus Movie 3D, Standard 3D and Dynamic 3D & Standard / Game Mode.

Download the file to your PC's hard drive. Then unzip the file. Take the unzipped folder and copy it to a usb flash drive. Plug the flash drive into usb port on TV. After the device is displayed and initialized, Go to the support Menu and then select Software Update. Select the usb device with the downloaded 1115 version... That's about it. Once this process starts the actual firmware update, DO NOT touch ANYTHING!!! The TV powers OFF & then back ON after the 100% completed message is displayed. When all that happen's your'e good to go..... If anything is not working correctly with the latest firmware, Do a Factory Reset and have fun reprogramming almost EVERYTHING from scratch. I hope your'e now "Found".biggrin.gif

Hey folks, can anyone enlighten me on the difference between Film Mode: auto 1 and auto 2? Which one is best for hd cable tv? I have read multiple conflicting sources on the issue. I have my time warner stb set to "native" so some of the channels are input in 480i/1080i. The set defaults to auto 2. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I just hooked up a sony str-dn840 to this tv last night.  The surround is 5.1 and for movies it sounds great.  But if I just want to put the news on it's all overkill.  I'm new to all this tech, but really I would be happy with just the tv speakers for that type of television.  Not sure even how to switch it back easily.

Also,  I have the ARC properly plugged in but on a test, a netflix 5.1 program gave only 2 channels to the receiver.

Also,  is there a way to use the samsung remote to switch sources still, now that everything is jacked into the back of the receiver?

Thanks for any advice!

I use Auto 1 for everything...it gives more detail for 1080i sources.

Auto 2 is best for channels with tickers- News and Sports.

I also leave Auto Motion Plus (A.M.P.) : Off most of the time.

A.M.P. used with Film Mode can cause slowdown and stuttering.

Press More on the remote there is a Icon that changes from Ext. Speaker to TV Speaker.

Use this to switch sound.

This just may be a version that doesn't require the Factory Reset. I did my reset anyways to play it safe. Before the reset, I did check for the things that seem to get messed up after updating but this time, all looked normal. Anyways, it's been a little less than 1 day with version 1115 installed and so far, NO stability issues have occured. I have tried NetFlix and many other Smart Hub applications without any issues I have noticed. Hopefully this Firmware Version may be the one to hang on to.wink.gif

Just upgraded from 1110 to 1115. Netflix is stuttering a bit still with ethernet connected, not wireless. I'll try wireless when the kids nap.

I Can't do a live update yet? Don't know why?
Never mind seen that it can be done by USB, do we know if all updates will have to be done this way?
