I have a deck being converted to an enclosed new house space. I want to be able to drive the front speakers of the surround sound in the new room either through the system in the main house (so that we can have consistent music throughout during a party) or through the system dedicated to that room (such as when we are watching a movie out there or listening to music that is different from what is playing in the rest of the house). Conveniently, there are speaker wires from the system in the main house already pulled to the deck/new room from the outdoor speakers I used to have there. I found a speaker selector from Monoprice that allows you to input two different sources and select which one will feed the speakers. Does anyone have experience with something like this? Is there any reason I should avoid it? In other words, would this kind of speaker selector be expected to denigrate the sound quality?
