The buttons on my harmony 700 died. I think I'll be looking for something else that is very programable. Don't really feel a need for a lcd either..
I think I'll give some opinion below..
First, the sound out of the box is great! I never got this sound out of my pioneer 9?? (to lazy to go look at the model number), or my 1023k pioneer.
That sound is the first obligation of a receiver. Period.
Second, at first I was a bit leary of the simplicity of the menu etc.. I think, in the end, it may work out nicely.
3rd, the mdac replacement in the sony is short and sweet. Not so long winded as the pioneer.
4th, The android apps wanted me to register so they could track me or something and my mood after the remote fiasco was not a good one. I'll make up my mind whether I want to be tracked by my receiver later..
5th, the best thing about the remote is they give you batteries (You could keep these and use them on something else). I just got this thing yesterday, and the remote ended up sucking so bad, it took the pleasure out of the whole thing. I began to feel like I was going to send the whole thing back.
After setting up the directv remote to at least work the sound level on the receiver, I felt a bit better, and after listening and playing around, I'm beginning to feel the purchase may have worked out although I will have to add the price of a new remote. It sounds that good. Better than my pioneers ever have. Why? I don't know. Maybe it comes preset with better settings than I've ever managed to set on my pioneers. ??
So, on day two, I'm probably going to keep it because of the sound, and the simple menus may be fine, because I really don't need to tweak it to much and everything you need seems to be there. I can also hear voices better.. Nice sound!
But, I steal feel a bit ripped off on the remote. Especially, since the lower priced pioneers have a much, much better remote.
And did I mention, this remote is huge? It is big, fat, dumb, and dumber.
I hope my posting is helpful to others.
