Is it just for the 8500 or will the 5500 and 5300 get a break as well?

FWIW, Amazon is throwing in a free soundbar with the purchase of any of their Samsung HDTV's.

Yep, this is a nationwide offer. Any dealer that sells them is offering this.

Any samsung or just the higher end models?

Select models.

Paul's TV just dropped the price of their open-box 64, down to $2549. The sales rep said these TVs are not customer returns but NEW panels with the full warranty and the soundbar.
East Coast TV's has them for $2529 with a free wall mount.

I am sure they are 'new' opened box panels. lol

Yeah, good luck with that. For every 1 good story you read about this place there are 10 bad ones.

FWIW - some of Amazon's price match vendors have dropped the price on the 60" F8500s by $100. After asking them to do so, Amazon price matched on an order I had placed several days ago - without any hassle. I appreciate how they handle their business.

This is because of a national rebate offer financed by Samsung. I'm glad they honored it for you, but because of that, they were reimbursed by Samsung, so it wasn't really just out of the goodness of their heart.

By no means would I presume that Amazon is doing this "out of the goodness of their heart." This being said, what does that have to do with: a) me appreciating Amazon honoring their price-matching policy, b) the $100 I saved, or c) any one else saving $100 on their order? And if this is a national offer, why isn't this rebate offered by all dealers. Ah well, I'll leave it to you to sort it out for the rest of us.

Does anyone know if the rumored price drop on Samsungs will begin tomorrow? Super Bowl week, this is the time if it was ever going to happen.

Sorry if this came off as rude. That wasn't really my intention. This will be offered by all dealers, though it appears some of them may have jumped the gun. Hope you like the TV though, it's pretty nice!

My bad for firing back, and mis-reading intentions... Perhaps it is a bit due to my frustration related to this purchase. (I'm ending with a Samsung, because I couldn't find a Panasonic plasma without a fan noise problem.) Glad to hear that this savings will be across the board.

No worries. Sorry you weren't able to nab a Panasonic. Hoping I'll be able to get one myself!

All Samsung's have a full 1 year warranty from the date of purchase. Make sure just to keep your receipt, open box or not Samsung doesn't know the difference.

Flipafrica I'm not so sure this would be a step down from a ST or a VT. I've seen it right next to a ST and a VT. It's really beautiful. Gorgeously bright with deep blacks and plenty of contrast. I own a Panasonic 65S64 currently and I recently got caught up in the end of Panasonic production. I think I'm going to order one of these from Cleveland Plasma tomorrow. I'm not sure why I've spent so much time in the last week looking for another Panasonic when this beauty is readily available at a good price. smile.gif

WOW, $100. Good thing I didn't wait for a real price drop to purchase the F8500 and bought the VT60 instead at a great price. Would have loved the F8500 but man that thing really needs to come down in price.

Anyway, what a year for Plasma's in 2013 even starting down at the ST60 level. I would have liked to have seen another tier in the the Samsung plasma line up though. The difference between the F5500 and the F8500 is is so huge and the price really reflected that as well.

For Panasonic, I have to think they made more money this year from their plasma's then their LEDs. Did anyone really buy a Panasonic LEDs? It would be interesting if we can see those numbers.

Having been disappointed with the VT50, I wouldn't be crowing about your good deal quite yet. rolleyes.gif

I agree, it took a 1000.00 drop (at the current BB retail at the time) for me to grab one at Conn's. In a way, I'm glad to see Samsung is still as high as they are on the pricing, since I'm thinking I may take my ZT60 down to TX next time I'm there and swap it with my brother's F8500. Then I can sell that as I'm sure the hours on it are extremely low still and I'd probably just ask to get what we paid out of it. If push comes to shove, there's no doubt the ZT is the one worth hanging onto, but it just hasn't been convenient to go back down there right now and I'm not making a separate trip just for that. Not the end of the world, though, as the IR Resistance on the Samsungs is good since he plays COD once in a while. That's their primary advantage, though they're very good TVs.

Panasonic LEDs OTOH just plain suck. Up to now, anyway. No other way to put it.

Good call on the rebate/$100 price drop. Clearly you know your stuff... I really wanted getting a VT/ZT60 to workout, but couldn't get my hand on one without the fan problem, and it didn't feel right spending that much money on a tv I had to repair out the box. So oh well, we'll see how the F8500 works out.

Registering your set adds another 3 Months of Warranty.

Honestly though, the F8500 is a great TV. Often times with the discussions about which products are best on this forum, and the strong opinions that come with them, can lead people to think that not having the "best" means that they have the worst. That is certainly not the case here. You still have one of the best plasma TV's that will EVER be made. My thought is that you can rest easy with an F8500 occupying space on your TV stand!smile.gif

Splitting hairs at this point series for series between these TVs on all out image quality. What separates them is less apparent factors like overall reliability, handling of IR, warranty support and customer care when things go wrong etc. There always has to be a best, but 2nd place is right on the coat-tails of 1st these days.

And no matter what, we don't have to deal with garbage like this...

350x197px-LL-c8538353_IMG_20131021_225608068.jpeg

And that should be reason enough to celebrate any plasma you get.

Sears in St. Petersburg Florida shows a Sears Outlet "reconditioned" Samsung PN64F8500 for $1,849.93, in case anyone is interested.
The best price to be seen, as far as this weeks sale, is on the PN60F8500. 51" and 64" where really not effected on the dealer end........
Anybody feel that the price will go lower on the PN64f8500? Still feel that is alot to spend considering the Panasonic 65VT60 was down to $1999-$2300 on Amazon. Samsung ends there free soundbar promo this weekend...anybody know what may be the offer next week?
