Can you post the receipt when you have the time?

Thanks

Thanks

With a little negotiating, I got mine reduced from $2,999 down another $200 to $2,799 for the 64 incher smile.gif. I know it's not as low as those lucky ones to get BB to PM East Coast, however I am happy with the results and I have to say, Best Buy deserves all of our support. Without them, we would have no way to actually see for ourselves and compare in a showroom atmosphere anymore. Especially the Magnolia sections that are darker than the rest of the store.

Abes of Maine has the 60F8500 for $2215. I thought about trying to price match my local BBY, but it might just be an exercise in futility.
I went to local BB store. Asked about price matching EC TV. Had gone with the print outs of the page showing the price and also the forum postings that showed people who were successful in getting price matches from BB stores. But was flat out refused. Spoke with the manager and he told that they all have very clear instructions NOT to price match EC TV. Surprising that some are able to get this, I guess it depends on the location ...

Best Buy in Salem, NewHampshire. According to the manager I spoke with, the instructions are for all New England stores.

Happy 4th of July smile.gif
Just got done watching the Avengers on my 64F8500 with the family. Immersive bright picture with inky blacks. My family is so happy I made the purchase.
Very nice, congrats. You'll be having a blast once it arrives. I am so glad I chose this over the VT60 and will never be able to go back to the old dim plasma's which only excel in low to no light situations. This is a great time to have to replace a broken TV, so many advancements in plasma technology this year by Samsung they are leaving Panasonic in the dust in my humble opinion.

Glad you got in on it! Did you finally go talk to Jason, or get another BB to price match?
I talked to Jason but he was not working the 4th or the 5th. So I had nothing to do yesterday and went to my local BB and they matched East Coast Tv's plus saved me a 1 1/2 - 2hr drive tomorrow to see Jason.

Though I have read these forums for a while I have never posted so I apologize in advance if I have tread on forum conventions.

I unsuccessfully tried to negotiate with one of the local BB's here in Raleigh, NC today for three items:
Samsung PN64F8500 (Retail $3,399.98)
Panasonic TC-P50ST60 (Retail $999.99)
Martin Logan Motion Vision Soundbar (Retail $1,499.98)

I attempted a 2 forked approach: 1) simple negotiation for 20% off the whole package, which is loosely based on prices I have seen some folks here able to negotiate with their BBs, and 2) when that failed I tried to get them to price match the 8500 with East Coast TV.

The only thing they were willing to negotiate on at all was the Soundbar, which they were willing to do 20% off. They said they could not negotiate at all on the TVs due to manufacturer agreements that basically forbade them to do so (I forget the acronym they used EDIT: unilateral pricing policy) and of course East Coast is not on their price match list.

I did not expect to get 20% but I was disappointed they were unwilling to discuss price on the TVs at all, and going away with the Soundbar by itself was not what I had in mind so I politely walked.

I may try another BB in the area or the HH Gregg next week, or I may just wait.

Thanks to everyone here who has posted information - it has made this journey easier and more fun. smile.gif

I am a novice trying to buy a Samsung PN64F8500 64-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Smart Plasma HDTV for my living room. I stay away from junk retailers that "bait and switch" like abes of maine and I don't like to pay taxes at places like Best Buy. I was planning on buying the 8500 from Amazon for $3397 when I saw a "very good" version w/ description of "item may come repackaged. Minor cosmetic imperfection on back of item" for $2683.27. I read the policies for warehousedeals' condition explanations. I was concerned I might be getting a junk TV used by some random person who did not take care of it and returned it with damage. I emailed the division at amazon. They told me they don't know it it was used; however, they can confirm it is 100% working and there is something wrong with the back, but unknown what exactly. I want to get a good deal on this TV to reinvest in a nice home theater (installed wall speakers, whole nine yards). However, I don't want to buy junk. I am trying to find out if it is better to "get what you pay for" by buying outright from amazon proper vice their warehousedeals item. I am looking for value, but do not want to sacrifice for picture quality or condition.

So...

Question(s):

Has anyone here personally had an experience or can relay a friend's experience buying a F8500 or similar plasma or LCD 60+ inch TV from warehousedeals? Did the TV come in a condition better worse than or as described ? Does it work well minus the cosmetic problems? What condition did you buy it when it was listed? Do you recommend I do warehouse deals to save the $700 or simply buy straight from amazon? Did you get a squaretrade warranty as well on this item?

Notes: I am a prime member. I am also the type to buy used cars at 1-2 years in order to reduce sticker shock when driving off the lot, but I am picky before pulling the trigger...in that case i can see what I am getting, in this 8500 deal, I am buying "blind." However, I don't want to have to send this thing back due to poor picture or a damaged product that makes it worthless. General thoughts?

Thank you.

Alex in Raleigh (and New Bern),

Why not give the BB in Greensboro a call? I got a great deal there over the phone.

You may even be able to complete the transaction over the phone via CC and have the tv delivered eliminating a 2 hour drive.

If you want the mgr name who gave me a deal, feel free to shoot me a PM.

If anyone has had luck at a BB in the NY area (LI preferably) p;ease send me a PM and let me know. I guess it would also help if you've been shot down, so I know where not to waste my time.

Thanks

Since its been a few weeks, I figured I'd ask again if anyone in the NY area has had any success with price matching at a BB or elsewhere- thanks

For drop ships try Cleveland Plasma and if you want a local delivery/dealer call Value Electronics. Two very well respected Samsung retailers.

Best Buy don't do CC sales over the phone anymore

Every retailer I spoke to (and it was maybe five or six of them) echoed the same exact things:

- Samsung dictates the price, and they cannot go below it.
- Paul's TV has terrible policies, especially regarding returns and overall customer service.

Anyway, somebody was mentioning a rebate that made the F8500 one thousand dollars less than the ZT60. Anybody hear about this at all, or do you think he was comparing $4100 to $3100 and maybe not $3200 to $2200?

EDIT: Maybe it was East Coast TV's and not Paul's, my bad.

Looks like prices are begging to drop. Saw a post about this somewhere, but can't find it now.

Just got the 64F8500 for a tad under $2900. Look around, there are several authorized places selling this tv at that price.
Yesterday (Saturday, August 10) a couple of Amazon vendors dropped the price to $2,900, but Amazon was still at $3,400. I believe the vendors were Paul's TV and OneCall. I looked this morning and Amazon has now dropped to $2,900 as well.

Also, Sears is having a sale this weekend and the 64F8500 is.... surprise! $2,900.

I bought from Paul's TV and their pre-sales is very promising but once you paid, you won't get much support from them and if your set arrives with some problem that initial brief inspection does not discover then you are really in trouble. They will make you take pictures, mine had specks of dust behind that front glass..., then call the manufacturer, and then manufacturer needs to produce a written statement that there is a problem indeed, for the dust blobs the manufacturer said it was normal to have dust blobs inside glass now and then?! and refused to write a letter saying dust is abnormal thus you are stuck. Paul's is saying not my problem, no returns, manufacturer says not a problem at all. You just dropped $2500 on a set and it has blobs of dust behind the glass, it buzzes louder than a fridge in the kitchen... and this is all normal?

My 2 cents, I am sure there are many happy customers of Paul's that never had to deal with them on issues but I did not have such luck. To me they overpromise and underdeliver real bad. Amazon, BestBuy, Value Electr and Costco are vastly superior in their support of a customer, that was my experience but nobody is perfect. I am not buying from Paul's for sure but YMMV.

How long is this going on for? I hope I can go in tomorrow and get mine price-matched still, and I hope it wasn't just for the weekend!
