Honorable mention goes to Malece & Jade's routine, though Travis W.'s "blindfold" piece was pretty damn good as well. I thought it was a good show all around, with only Alexis & Nico's Hip-Hop piece falling completely flat.
Makensie is still my pick for prettiest girl but Haley, Alexis and Brittany are pretty cute.
Agree almost entirely.
But I think the final Sonya T. routine with Amy and Fik-Shun might have been a bit overrated. Good, but I wouldn't rate it tops.
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the Christopher Scott hip-hop number done by Haley and Curtis. I thought that was terrific.
And I really liked both of the two Travis Wall pieces, the blindfold number with Jasmine-M and Alan, along with that terrific jazz number with Malece and Jade where she came off as a real tiger!
And I loved Tyce's Broadway number with Jenna and Tucker.
As smitten as I am with Makenzie I thought their Viennese Waltz was good, but in a night with some really surprising performances I'd have to kind of put it upper-middle. And she knows she's gorgeous, so she has to stop mugging for the camera and show a bit of humility.
Brittany and BluPrint were great to watch in that Afro jazz number, and she's quite the dancer. But again, upper-middle.
For very tall dancers, Jasmine-H and Aaron were great. Also upper-middle.
So that leaves Mariah and Carlos and their unfortunate assignment of jive, along with Alexis and Nico and their very mediocre hip-hop, as the bottom two.
All in all, these are 20 great dancers! And other than Jason Gilkison's rare miscue in choreographing that misguided opening jive number, the routines so far this year have all been fabulous! Gotta say it, that opening group number was absolutely fantastic!! Kind of reminded me of the high quality group numbers we used to see when Wade Robson was involved with the show.
I also re-watched the Top 20 Intro show (as I captured my clips) and really enjoyed the guys' "sand dance" and the girls' Kiki number.
Gonna be a great season. I may be moving to team Hayley based on what I saw last night on the girl's side. We'll have to see. There's really lots to choose from. They've really all got great personalities, and are terrific dancers (well, maybe with the exception of Mariah who I think is probably out of her league here).
Haven't settled on a favorite on the guy's side yet.
