'Under the Dome' on CBS HD - Page 38

Now really, did anyone think Max was going to survive given that she was threatening Big Jim. He's killed for less.

Is anybody keeping up with the body count? smile.gif

Unless of course Max was never inside the dome to begin with ...

Still time for any dead people on the show to be resurrected by the Dome.

Hank is one tough sob. Killing in cold blood, on network tv. The show is such a train wreck, gotta watch..

Sometimes you guys crack me up, its like you are watching just hoping to find something wrong instead of enjoying the show. Those are two separate cars from two separate people as previously pointed out.

The only enjoyment from this show comes from making fun of pretty much everything in it. And there's plenty of fun to be had in that.

Seriously Bill, I know you love anything sci-fi/fantasy but you've got to admit that this one reeks, plotwise.

There is no need to hope something is wrong .. we are regularly rewarded with it .. wink.gif

Quick question - was the Natalie Zea character (or anyone similar) in the book, or was she purely a TV show character.
Maxine was created for the TV show. That character was NOT in the book.

If you could draw some conclusions about our critics, it'd be that they get more enjoyment out of trashing a show than sitting back and enjoying it for what it is.

We should be glad that we have something that's scifi as most scifi gets cancelled.
^^^ By now, I'm pretty sure most of us realize AVS threads, especially on anything even Sci Fi related generally go into posts that are critical, with rare, if any exception .. wink.gif .. we are part of a very discriminating club .. wink.gif

I'm still watching, not really to trash the show later, but because I've invested the time so far and I may as well finish it out .. next season, I don't know ..

The problem with Dome is the show makes it so easy for a viewer to be critical .. you don't have to be looking for it, it's just right there in your face .. eek.gif

I liked that this mysterious thing trapped a town and that it was walking dead life changing like environment, but the min. it turned into a long term issue you know the production is thinking drag the show on and on, hence Lost reference (literally and figuratively)... It lost it's originally although in one shot...

Very much like Revolution where some of the science is so far off you just can't ignore it!

While it does fail as a sci-fi show, I do find it enjoyable as a summer show (it would probably get lost if it was in the Fall schedule) but I enjoy it for the show/drama more then making fun of it.

While you're making comparisons to other shows, it seems to be to be very close to "Secret Circle," right down to the sideways glances and pregnant pauses before they combine their powers.  Angie must feel right at home.

I'm suddenly reminded of "Batman" in the sixties. Campy on purpose. In the MAD magazine takeoff, Robin complains that people laugh at him. Batman replies "We laugh too...all the way to the BANK!'

Are the folks producing UTD pulling one over on us? Thinking "what kind of ridiculous horse hockey can we do next"? rolleyes.gif

I mean, a section of the USA is suddenly isolated by a "mysterious" Dome .. no one can get in or out and a giant bomb did absolutely no damage .. by now, would not the entire outside area of the Dome be run over with at least the Military and the Science community .. ?? This was World Wide major news .. not to mention the you-tube gang and what not ..

Actually, that's probably one of the few things that roughly parallels the book. There, the military cordoned off the Dome and kept everyone away except those it wanted there for one reason or another. And it looks as if the military [in the show] has finally figured out Barbie is in there....

That whole scene with Barbie, Big Jim, and Linda was laughingly bad though. Why would Barbie run off like that? It's his word against Big Jim's, and I would think Linda would be inclined to believe Barbie. In any event, there's no quicker way to convince a cop you're the perp than to run from a crime scene. rolleyes.gif

IIRC he said Julia's name right before he took off. Maybe he was afraid if he let Linda take him into custody that Big Jim would kill Julia to prevent her from telling Linda the truth. The two of them together would have been enough to turn Linda against Big Jim, but Barbie and Jim seem to have equal credibility (or lack thereof) in Linda's eyes right now.

I'd much rather have another season of The Secret Circle than another season of this, even if I'm in the minority.
While I too would like The Secret Circle back, I like both shows, with The Secret Circle ahead of Under the Dome.

I was pissed when The CW canceled The Secret Circle. They also canceled Ringer, another great show.

I worked for a radio station in Wickenburg AZ run by Circle S Broadcasting where the S stood for Shumway. Harold, Sharon & Mike Shumway were the nicest people I could work for and they were my friends so I think it's so cool to have a character (or two though the second one started out dead) on the show with that name. And a fiery redhead to boot. And it came to pass Julia was trapped in the dome and all were happy. cool.gif

P.S.: ALF's pseudonym was Gordon Shumway. biggrin.gif

So I go to watch the new episode and see a repeat of Big Bang Theory starting up instead. What happened? Was there a live event that preempted things, and why not just cut out BBT?

CBS remove non-essential programming from a schedule to keep things on time? The absurdity! It's just not possible! It would break the laws of physics! wink.gif

Blame the golf.

Amazon Prime shows new episodes every Friday. Which I just found out when I went to watch. The Dome did not abide.
I just happened to start watch the DVR about half hour into the program & realized it was delayed & was able to add time to the recording. Otherwise I would have been screwed.
The episode is already up at CBS.com but I couldn't see it on mobile devices. I think Amazon still has a lock on that distribution.

Blame the golf.

Actually, it was the tennis. But who's counting? The three dozen people who were watching the match got to see it in its entirety, so good for them. I figured it would run over if it went more than 3 sets, so I recorded the next two CBS shows (local news and Letterman - Nadal made sure I didn't need Dave). I'm sure the Dome will be grateful, although I probably won't be. tongue.gif

I just heard the "Open" is running over so immediately thought of golf. I can't keep track of the causes of overruns on CBS.
Yeah it stinks that CBS pulled that stunt. Horrible planning. They could have easily dropped one of the shows they were rerunning in front of it. At least I have a Prime subscription so I guess I'll watch it Friday night instead.
Rumor has it, that when they were writing last episode, they considered changing the phrase "Barbie did it " with " Scooby Doo did it" because it makes more sense! biggrin.gif
