Setting up my 360HD drive to work with XBMC

I'm not sure if I should have posted this here or in the DVD drive section.

I have a HTPC(really just a desktop) connected to my AVR790 and 55 lm6200. The front of the PC is full of lights and pretty ugly amongst the rest of my components. What I want to do is put the computer behind and use the 360's HD DVD drive as the DVD player. I got it working with Media player within windows 8 pro. But XBMC doesnt recognize a disc being inserted. Wether it be HD disc or regular DVD. But it works in file mode, which is no solution for the wife to use

Any ideas?

You could just open the case and pull the LED connections from your PC's motherboard, or just use black tape.

Ya, I thought of that. But it's an ugly acer all in one. I should have just built one form scratch like I always have. But it was so damn cheap LOL.

Plus I like the idea of playing all my HD DVD's and many regular dvd's

I have now got XBMC to recognise the HD DVD player. I turns out I had to disable the internal drive, not that I am using it anyways. Re arranging the drive letters within windows would fix the problem too.

Now, I am still struggling to get HD DVD's to play. XBMC Frodo pukes at the attempt LOL. I know PowerDVD 7.3 plays them, but it's long gone.

Good luck with the HD DVDs. You'll probably need Total Media Theater, or simply rip them to something more XBMC friendly.
