Maybe he may say the $150K & $75K speakers are 100% better than the JTR, but the $150K & $75K speakers are only 40% better than the LS40?
It's all opinions. Someone selling his Revel Studio to buy JTR simply means that he FELT like it was best for HIM, not for anyone ELSE.
My brother told me he just bought some used JTR Triple8 from one of his buddies. I have not had the chance to visit him yet in CO. But he said the JTR make great karaoke speakers, but not as great for critical music listening. I plan on visiting him over the Summer and judge for myself. But no matter what my brother thinks and what I think, it's just our opinions.
Where to start ... sigh ...
Well unequivocal is your take (freudian projection?), certainly not mine. I am not wedded to my impressions of speakers and that is why I have, on numerous occasions, opened my HT up to groups and individuals (mostly AVS members I did not know prior) so they could hear for themselves. I am a firm believer in the hear it for yourself school of thought when it comes to subjective impressions with loudspeakers
As to your silly comparisons, why bother writing that drivel ...?
Finally, my first exposure to JTR was from another Forum member who brought his Triple 8's over to my HT room and we did a direct a/b comparison with my Revel Ultima Studio 2's.
I was a little surprised by how good the Triple 8 sounded (mostly on rock and roll) but was not moved to sell the Revels by that comparison as the JTR's lacked the wonderful detail of the Revels. Subsequent to that (2009) I had a demo at another forum members home of JTR but this time is was Triple 12's and it was mainly a movie demo. The thing that jumped out at me was the dynamic capability of theT12's and, the dialog clarity was much better than my $7500 Revel Ultima 2 Voice center channel.
That demo led to a very sobering realization that for what I wanted, these Audiophile speakers were just not designed and built to supply. If I were doing a single seat (Golden Triangle) stereo setup I would probably not choose JTR. But for Home Theater non-living room setups, these pro audio derived loudspeakers like Seaton, Danley and JTR do it for me. YMMV ...
