I got to where everything between my ITV6 and a Win7PC running WMC was working comfortably. However, that PC was the one my son uses when he's here, and I decided to get another system to get out of his way, have him out of mine, and just have a box I would leave dedicated to the video stuff. I picked up a Dell system for this purpose, and it's running Win8. I installed Pro, installed the Ceton drivers, and managed to get WMC configured. At this point, I can run the Ceton diags, and things check out. However, when I try to tune in a station, I see about one second of video, which then gets into a loop for six or seven passes, and then I get a message saying there is a Video Error, and the files needed to play the video are not present or are not correct (something like that, it just left the screen). At that point, WMC says there is no tuner available to satisfy the current request, and to restart WMC or restart the computer. There is nothing else using the Ceton, and if I go into the other room and try from the Win7 PC, all is good. The new PC, however, won't even let me do digital tuner diagnostics unless I reboot the computer. At that point, things seem okay, until I try to tune in a station again.
This machine is running Win8 Pro. I've not moved it to 8.1, and I didn't know if I have a driver problem, a problem sharing the tuner, etc. Given this is Win8, I have no other experience on this platform, and find it an arm wrestling match to do anything with it. I didn't know if anyone else has run into something similar. My connections are all gigabit ethernet, so it's not a network bandwidth problem that I can tell.
