Gosh, now if these don't come out in 3D, I'm going to be a bit disappointed even though they finally made it to blu-ray frown.gif

If that is true, he's a bigger wanker then I thought, but let's hope all that is just a rumor. But in any case the fact that film never even get a proper DVD release [anamorphic]is just puzzling. Same goes for the Abyss.

These would be 2D conversions. No way am I paying for that.

Put all the money into releasing an ultra high quality, fully restored (original) 2D version with amazing audio. And no f---d up modern color timing!!!!

So don't. They never force you to buy the 3D version.

In fact, they only force you to buy the 2D version these days as I've been saying...

I'm talking about when they budget for the restoration. I'd rather they put the money into the best original version possible than a so-so 3D conversion.

I'd agree with that then.

Still want some other team to come along and do the 3D conversion from the best possible 2D conversion though wink.gif

The Abyss would a great movie to have. I also went for the SE Laserdisk at that time. Laserdisks were a really expensive hobby.

I wonder why so many movies are belated here, when you are able to buy them in Europe for quite some time, Aladdin being one example, Cleopatra another.

I'd love to have the Abyss also, and Strange Days which I think someone else mentioned earlier on this thread too. I'm also looking forward to the Hitchcock movies that are supposedly coming out later this year (Rear Window, Vertigo and the Birds). Also on my own personal wish list:

A Simple Plan
Fandango
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
The Straight Story
Dolores Claiborne
Seven Days in May
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
In the Heat of the Night

Granted, these aren't your typical "blu ray movies". But it feels wierd to be adding anything new to my library that isn't blu ray at this point and the old movies especially usually get a good restoration for blu ray release. I just watched 12 Angry Men on BD with the LPCM mono soundtrack and it looked and sounded so much better than I remembered that I can't help wanting to see some of my other favorite old movies get the same treatment.

Can't believe I forgot Fearless. Very underrated Peter Weir film with a great performance from Jeff Bridges.

That's good news if they are true. I have got all of them in LD. smile.gif

Give me The Abyss and The Haunting on Bluray and I'll be good for a while wink.gif
