My Take on the Value Electronics Shootout (I was there) - LED Wins - Page 2

I agree that the 3 LCDs were nearly completely neglected in this year's shootout (I watched the whole thing on YouTube) and that while the Samsung F8000 LED-LCD was the best of the LCDs there, they could have picked better competition from Sony and perhaps a brand other than Panasonic (their WT60 was terrible in most areas of PQ... IPS is not for dark room viewing)... maybe LG or Sharp. This was really a plasma shootout and the LCDs were a minor distraction at best... which was not exactly the case the year the Sharp Elite won or even last year when the VT50 won.

Anyways, I'd like to see the calibration reports for all TVs in the shootout but the link for e-mail request on value electronics .com doesn't work for me. Can anyone upload it here?

Now that Panasonic has bowed out of the Plasma arena and Samsung the only real player left (LG is an even smaller Plasma player) you wonder if the VE's shootout 2014 will be LCD, 4K or OLED dominant.

What i find strange is that LCd off axis performance was a huge problem for VE folks and pro's in general. You will see that Curved OLED off axis performance will not be a problem at all smile.gif
