Our lead ios developer says sometime in September. The goal is to have it available at ios7 launch time. We are hoping to get all of our other apps in their respective stores around the same time, so there will be a barrage of releases. And they will all integrate nicely with MBT.

Wow that is like a month from now. I can wait that long biggrin.gif Is the Theater product due out soon ? I'd love to try that out. I'm already guessing I'll be moving over to that when it' released. My wife loves MB, she won't use XBMC... lol Both I have set up to launch from inside WMC but she always clicks into MB2 or MB3classic... lol. I am hoping this stand alone won't throw her for a loop to bad. eek.gif

We have not announced any date yet, and I'm not about to throw one out. But we have a wave of app releases coming, and we'd like MBT to be right in the middle of it, considering it will be the centerpiece.
Fair enough. Thanks for the honestly I'll volunteer to beta test if you need more. I'm already playing with MB3 classic / Server, and I am a long time paid MB2 supporter. Is Coverart3 going to be in MBtheater? Is it free or a cost ? How about Gamebrowser?
Cover art actually has nothing to do with MBT directly. It is a server add-on, and when used, it creates cover art for all clients, including MBT but the others as well. So if you already have CA on the server, then you have it for MBT.

GameBrowser is an add-on. The server add-on is 100% free. This allows the games to be added to the library, metadata downloaded, etc. In MBT, you can actually setup emulators as external players for games without the need of a plugin. But RedShirt will also have an MBT add-on that will handle this for you so that you don't have to mess with command line parameters. That add-on I believe will be free for MB supporters. He and I also intend to work together on integrating RetroArch, which is like an internal player for games and will be pretty slick.
Is there an installation and set up guide posted somewhere?
I can't seem to get totalmedia theatre 3 or 6 to work as an external player with MediaBrowser Classic. I've tried it on 3 computers and they all just sit there when I try to play a movie. With MediaBrowser 3 TotalMediaTheatre 3 worked well as an external player.
Skueaky?

Please post a screen shot of your MB3 external player setup.

Have you guys seen this?? Media Browser 3 Classic (Crystal Theme) being controlled by Microsoft Kinect (Media Browser Kinect & Control App)...

Xzener, what is the recommended hardware spec for MB Server, considering transcoding of Blu-ray ISOs and MKV to Android devices? I want to setup a new VM for it but I am not sure how much memory, CPU cores I should dedicate to it. (I am running ESXi).

I had MB3 setup on the same. I hadn't put it through a full stress test, however I did play a blu ray iso from my home server to my desktop at work and it played great. Didn't try blu ray to android but mkv's play fine.

I am switching form esxi to proxmox so I can't give you the exact specs I had, but I believe I had 4gb ram and 2 cores.

I also had passed through a NIC but I don't think this is necessary...I had tried to setup my ceton card to run on the VM and was getting choppy video... almost got it but in the end failed experiment smile.gif

I built a custom Dell PowerEdge 2950 II, with 2 quad core Xeons, 16gigs of RAM, FLEXRaid, BDROM drive, etc...

Seems to do well. cool.gif Not sure about minimum server requirements... Might be a good question to ask over at the CT.

This is side-stepping a little bit, but let's assume for a moment that you don't plan to stream, thus no encoding. MB Server is orders of magnitude faster and more resource-efficient than mb2. It does not need much. Now, circling back, encoding is a different matter. That will require some degree of horsepower. Why not join our community and pose the question in the discussion area? Tikuf is our resident encoding expert and can give you a great recommendation based on the devices you have or plan to have.

So I installed MB3 server and classic on my PC as well as MB3 android on my Galaxy S4. I did the library configuration in the server and choose Diamond theme as well in the configurator. I am seeing my whole library on my phone but not in MB3 Classic in WMC on my PC. I can see my library and play it back on my PC from the Server page and can even use my phone to launch playback on my PC too.

I have not installed MB3 Classic yet on my HTPC because I am wanting to make sure it works on my PC before making the leap. Right now I'm not making the leap because of this. I will probably stick with Classic because I use the PVR function of WMC every single day with a CableCARD tuner but am ready, willing and able to Check out MBT as soon as it is in public beta.

So did I miss something in setting up my library? Why can my phone see and play my library but MB3 Classic in WMC in my PC won't?

I believe that your MBC on your pc may not be able to find the MB server install.

It could be a windows sharing setting...that had happened to me.

If you want you can enter the server address manually in the MBC config. That should work.

Okay. Thanks. I'll check into that tonight or even go into an RDP session on my PC here from work on my lunch hour..

Will we be able to launch external applications from within MBT. For example, right now I use XBMC with advanced launcher. This lets me create shortcuts to launch WMC guide, WMC live TV and WMC netflix. Along with eventghost this creates a seamless front end for the family.

That would be pretty sweet!

@ Sammy

I had the same issue. I ran the update similar to how you do with mb2 to update your library and after restarting everything showed up

I did not do this.

There is a WMC Integration plugin which is a launcher for Media Center. Other launchers would be supported...just need development backing. The foundation is there for essentially anything though.
Back in the original MB3 anouncement thread there was talk about MB3 being a complete and stand alone front end including wmc live tv and pvr functions to completly replace the need to navigate around WMC. Is this still the case? I have not heard anyone talk about it in this thread yet. It would be nice to not have to worry about what programs and plugins to open to get to various media. An all in one solution would be fantastic.

Also, how is the transcoding with MB3 server? Is it comparable to Plex? Plex has been absolutely fantastic for getting me access to my media remotely on my android phones and tablets until recently when I got a new phone. For some reason it will not play back successfully on my droid dna over 4G LTE.
I find that playback to MB3 android from the MB3 server still needs a little bit of work but as usually is the case when comparing Plex to MB I find the UI to be much nicer in MB.
I am using the MB3 Android client for playback on a Galaxy S3 and 1st generation Nexus 7. So far, while rudimentary, it has been flawless. I am streaming Blu-ray ripped to mkv with no issues. IMO MB3 has a way better interface than Plex.

I ran Casino Royale this morning as a test (I didn't have time to watch but just let it run) and it quit about an hour in and didn't have a resume marker set either. Up until it quit, it was flawless. After re-starting it it ran well again but I didn't have time to let it run again.

Correction: It did have the resume point set but not right away. I just checked and it ran for about 50 minutes as I have a resume point at 52 minutes.

We will get there.

Can you mention this in our forum? I'm sure Redshirt and Tikuf can get to the bottom of it.
I think I did but I will double check to make sure. I sent Redshirt some logs already but he'll probably want some from beta 9 anyhow.

Oh, and I know you guys will get there with this for sure..THANKS for you efforts in pulling it all together too.
