That's the results. The external 2tb hdd I have works with my laptop, desktop etc, but with the media player it does not recognize it at all. It as if it does not exist to the media player. It could be that the feature is not implemented in the media players software as of yet, but you would think this would have been done already. So unless I am doing something wrong, it does not work yet. I also tried using both USB ports (front & back) and it made no difference, it just does not see the external hard drive.
I had called Sony a little while ago, Hawkmoon.
The guy told me the back USB only accepts USB 2.0 and to just plug it in and it will be formatted.
He said the front USB is USB 3.0 and it nees a firmware update and is not workable just yet. But it will be.
Then I saw your posting.
I have a very stupid question.
Where exactly is the USB located in the back? In the same place where there is the LAN and HDMI etc.?
On the side of the unit? I just do not see it. Which side? It is in a piece of furniture and is hard to turn and get behind.
What kind of Hard Drive did you plug in?
And how would you know if it is working or not.
I asked him how would you be able to transfer the movies from the media player to the hard drive. He said it does not work that way.
He said I won't know it is there. that it just acts as an extension of the Media player. And fills up accordingly according to him.
Makes no sense to me. I am just passing this along for what it is worth.
