I purchased it for the purely to be used as a PC Monitor for games. I understand that this model TV only has HDMI 1.4 at the moment and although it will get upgraded to HDMI 2.0 soon via an online Firmware update their is no current GPU that has HDMI 2.0. Maybe I can get a DP1.2 to HDMI adapter and it will work? But still if all else fails I will just have to wait for a GPU with HDMI 2.0 and enjoy the high res on slower games for now.

So I unboxed and some how managed to fit this beast into my 10 foot by 11 foot office. It absolutely dominates my desk! I plugged in my hdmi cable into my top GTX Titan and into the tv. I turn on my tv and ran through the general setup (5 mins) and then selected the hdmi source for my computer. My god I was greeted to a beautiful splendid picture and basically needed to change my pants. I thought at this point I need to take some photos but I didnt like the desktop background. So I right clicked on the desktop and I accidentally click on screen resolution where I was greeted with the shock of my life!!!!!!!!! The TV was only running at 1080p!!!!! Yes 1080p!!!! This TV is a machine and can upscale 1080p to near 4k quality. I would say its half way. I switched to 3840 x 2160 and all the desktop icons shrunk and shot across the screen up into the top left corner. everything seams instantly so small and it even annoyed me but now 1 hour later Im loving it. All the extra real estate is awesome! I had to try a game after all that. I went to the TV settings and flicked it to Game Mode and opened up the one game I think may make this TV really shine - ARMA 3. OMG!!! every setting was set ultra and bang the game loaded up and the texture and environment looks real! I quickly hit enter to see 3rd person and it looks like a guy is standing in front of you and your looking through a window. And then a doubt crept into my mind what if its laggy and looks bad when turning and moving because of motion blur. Well I took my little soldier on a run and spin and it looks fantastic and this is only 30hz. Imagine when HDMI 2.0 is sorted and its running at 60hz twice as good!!!!!! The lag was not perceivable at all and felt good. i played for 10 minutes and thought lets give a twitch FPS game like COD a go. Well i don't know what happened but it was laggy. the motion blur was fine bearable but the textures and game looked shocking. The game gave no justice to the 4k TV. I then moved onto NBA 2k13. the game looks awesome but motion blur is visable but you get used to it. It feels like playing 2k13 on the PlayStation but far superior graphics.
Basically once HDMI 2.0 GPU's come out this TV will really come alive for me. I'm over the FPS on PC because I must admit there are some good lads that play. I haven't tried any EA games because Im having trouble logging in. I really want to try FIFA, Simcity and BF3. Maybe BF3 will be ok on the more open maps and try not to get involved in close combat (maybe camping LOL).

Any questions feel free to ask and I will try and respond or try stuff out for you.

****I just uploaded these photos and as I was picking the good from the bad I relized how easy 4k makes photo editing!

Is that shot of the soldier from a game?

Yeah its from ARMA 3 on PC

I think it is. And man does it look good! I might have to switch from console gaming to CPU gaming.

You will have to build a PC with a nice graphic's card. Actually you can build a darn nice one for under $500 between Black Friday and Christmas. With mail in rebates, they basically give PC parts away !

I've been trialing all my games and ARMA 3 is by far the best with 4K so far.

I will get the PS4 when it comes out but only as a social console to chat to makes and muck around. Also sony should have some sort of 4k on it. But other than that PC all the way!!! Im waiting on GTA5 that will look sweet at 3840 x 2160 compared to 1280 x 720p lol

You need to download 4k video downloader .ITS FREE AND WORKS GREAT

http://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-videodownloader

Install it ...and open the program.

Then paste the You tube URL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD0ov1bVup8

Onto the downloader screen..

It will start downloading

If you see on top of the down loader screen...theres a smiley face with SMART MODE.

You can change your folder in there...ALSO ENSURE YOU DOWNLOAD IN 1080..

4k tv's cannot play native 4k off a USB THUMB DRIVE...so make sure 1080 is selected under "original"

The bloody You tube app had better play in 4k ...or I will be massively pissed!!

Keep in mind that some of the clips that say they are in 4k are only 1080.

If they are scam artists why would avs allow a large ad on the website? I'm not saying they are either great or bad and I'm even considering this offer, but why a large ad on a avs forum? I sure there is some sort of permission needed....I could be wrong tho!

Yep.  By the way, it's not always easy to figure out right away.  One of the problems with Yelp (for one example) is that if a place is really horrible, they will filter out the review thinking that you are doing some drive-by shooting.

Reading through all the reviews, you really get a sense as to what's fake and what's real.  And the stuff that seems real is pretty darn bad.

I have only seemed to get 2 choices on resolution on the YouTube app, HD and SD, nowhere have I found 'Original format' as an option. Although a couple of videos look like they are 4K. Both 'Barcelona' and 'Tears of Steel' look fantastic, if not 4K then shot in 4K and shown at 1080p.

Is the motion blur in NBA 2K13 from the response time of the panel, or the 30Hz? To my eyes, that looks less like blurring and more like motion problems stemming from a capped FPS. I'd expect more smearing if it was due to the panel.

I've noticed some ghosting on my panel, but I really have to go out of my way to make it happen.
I dont know. I keep meaning to flick it back to 1080p for tests but im stuck 4k heaven!!!!

tried to pixeloverclock with evgapixeloc and went straight for the highest 56Hz @ 4k. But no good. I will try again today but slowly increase it. I think I could get 40 to 45 Hz @ 4k through hdmi 1.4

On the 4k downloader program , top middle there's a smiley face "smart mode"

You can select original, or 1080, 720, etc..

If you select original, any 4k content on You tube will be downloaded in 4k.

They have numerous websites...

These are the New York Power sellers i think?

From what I hear, they charge $140 for insurance and handling.

They have a 10% restocking fee on tv's...

Then might as well just play it from the TV's YouTube app. Which I've seen some beautiful '4k' vids!!! smile.gif

I agree

but most of the 4k sets in stores are not connected to the internet...

The whole point of copying content on a thumb drive, is to go and compare tv's in a store.

I have been to BB about 10 times this month to test PQ...now when they see me arriving in Magnolia, they hide !!

Isn't the 4K downloader program for Mac or PC? Not a Sony app.

Sorry - wasn't making fun of your advise - just pointing out that it will be hard to find someone knowledgeable about the hardware they are supporting beyond what the owners manual tells them.

I have encountered an obscure anomaly that I can't explain. You may recall that I have a Darbee Vision Darblet in the signal chain between my AVR and the X900. And recently, we have received the advice to pass a 1080 signal to the X900 in order to get the best PQ.

Here is the issue: when I pass 1080p to the X900, the X900 display immediately starts blinking off and on at a rate of several times a second. It is not an HDMI handshake (I know because a handshake would interrupt audio as well). If I change the input resolution to the X900 to 1080i, the blinking stops immediately, and the display remains stable. I don't perceive any PQ difference between passing 1080i or 1080p, so this is more of a curiosity than a show-stopper.

I know at least one other X900 owner who is using a Darblet (sorry, don't remember who). I would appreciate it if he could run a test by passing 1080p to the X900 to see if the problem manifests itself on his set as well. I would like to know if I have a defective set, or whether this is an issue I need to report to Sony.

Edit: I forgot to mention--when I bypass the Darblet, the issue goes away.

I saw it too at the IMAX Chinese theatre in Hollywood! It's the biggest IMAX theatre in the world! It was amazing!!! We sat 7 rows back and we felt fully immersed in space! It was a breathtaking experience.
