Here is my take on this TV thus far.
It has a good picture...but most tv's of this caliber do also.
It does not upscale a damned thing. I was under the impression that the tv up converted 1080 to 4k?
If you play SD channels on this tv 480p, they look terrible. The tv does not up convert.
Same thing for 720 and 1080.
What it can do... is read/play 4k content.
4k content cannot be played off a USB disk. It cannot be played off You tube.
So unless we get the media player (Which i'm still not sure what it can and not do) ...we are screwed !!
I still have not been able to connect to my pc with the windows media player so i can't comment on whether the 4k content could be streamed via my pc to the tv or not.
have you tried other software such as Tversity?
others in this thread seem to be having success with it. My set arrives tomorrow afternoon, I should have its networking ready to go within minutes. I have already downloaded some 4k clips from YouTube and have them in a shared directory. If they can be streamed I'll know quite quickly. I'd prefer the app on the set be able to download and play 4k content.
It is my understanding the set should upconvert any input signal fed within its limitations (I believe their is a list in the manual). I have read that a signal from a STB will be upconverted, (if it were not you would have no picture) and better quality from low resolution signals can be had by letting the STB upconvert to 1080 before the set sees the signal.
Have you tried playing a Blu-Ray to see what effect it has on your picture? I'll be able to side by side the same signal to see if the set is actually making a difference.
