Buying my first projector soon (I hope)!

So I replied to an ad here for the optoma 3300 http://www.avsforum.com/t/1473029 does anyone have any advise on how to make sure the deal goes smoothly? I'm looking at prices for a replacement lamp. What is the deal with aftermarket bulbs? Are they a good buy or no? Well, I'm excited to hear back again from the seller. Wish me luck!

Stay away from aftermarket or "counterfeit" bulbs. Best Buy used one on my Samsung DLP under their "Buyer Protection Plan." It lasted less than 1000 hours. (1/4 the life of an OEM lamp)
Some vendors use OEM lamps in an aftermarket holder which may be okay.
The warranty is usually only to the original owner. I would ask for clarification on the 3300 warranty.

There is a warranty on the bulb, why do you need a replacement? Always buy oem bulb IMO.

Seller is a 12 year forum member with 1500 posts. It's not a guarantee, but the dude is probably legit.

Verge, we bought it ( happy dance!!!) I figured the same thing about him being a 12 year seller and went and read some of his past posts so it seemed pretty legit. Dosent mean it dosent scare the crap out of me to send $1000 to someone smile.gif we were just trying to think ahead to any costs we might incur in the very near future when buying this. Thanks guys for your input on the bulbs!

Verge, lets talk about being poor!!! I can't wait to share all the amazing deals I am getting on this theater build (remodel??? It is an existing family room) I just got 4 la-z-boy matinee seats for $150!!!! My game room has cost less than $100 and I have a foose ball table, bumper pool and air hockey. Us poor folks can pull it off too! It just takes time and determination!
