Hmmm.... R da m -audio av 40speakers any good? - Page 2

eljay how can i possibly thank you for saving my life?
I appreciate the sentiment, but I haven't done anything remotely close to saving your life! eek.gif

If I ever actually do save your life, a simple thank you - or $1,000,000 in cold, hard cash - will do nicely. biggrin.gif

so moving on.... What are some good powered speakers? I'm looking at m-audio a40s and audioengine..
Does the $200 budget cap still stand?
Av-40's are great for their price and size. If you have more space get bigger speakers. Audioengine speakers are over-priced in my opinion.

You ARE kind of all over the place. It would really help if you could clearly state what it is you are trying to accomplish. I'm assuming it's that you want to listen to music with your iPhone. Reciever, or not. Pioneer speakers, or not. Powered speakers or passive speakers.

Powered speakers. Company- not specified.

Should be some good info here: Top Rated Best Powered Speakers 2013.

Also here: $200 Budget for Powered Bookshelf Speakers for iPad???. (Includes a dead link to these Swan speakers.)

Read the reviews, purchase a pair of speakers...and enjoy! smile.gif

I think you need to learn how to use forums first before posting further.

I'll probably get the swans. Thanks. Just to make sure I can plug my iPhone into it? And maybe a CD player ? Will I need a subwoofer?
The Swans appear to have only one set of L+R analogue inputs. (That's often the downside of powered speakers.) You can get around that limitation by adding an analogue switch - like this one at Amazon.com.

If you want good bass extension, you'll definitely need a sub.

Time to re-think what it is you really want, and to work out an appropriate budget.

All the best! smile.gif

I agree. It sounds like you need an avr and a set of speakers.

Thanks all. Please any other suggestions are accepted. And why such an obscure system, have u tried it personally?
Since when is Onkyo obscure?

And why such an obscure system ...
It's by Onkyo - a well-known brand - and it has 119 reviews, 90% of them with a 5/5 or 4/5 rating. A person on a budget could do a whole lot worse than "such an obscure system".
You're not going to get a "perfect" system for $200. You can research unil your eyes bleed, but at some point you just have to stop and dive in and make a purchase.

It's been less than a week. And it'll stay that way...........

Edit: look at all the backlash I got. Damn! Y'all ain't playing

Someone's awfully thin skinned. We've tried to answer your questions even though you've been all over the place with what it is you want. If you think this is harsh treatment on a forum then you haven't been on many forums.

I really do appreciate your help. But how am I all over the place if we are supposed to be having a conversation(which usually jump around from topic to topic.)

That's a pretty sweet set-up! I just ordered one for my daughters b-day. Thanks!!
OP- hard to beat the value of the above system.
