Xbox One

Now that the Xbox One has been revealed to offer Blu-Ray, I wonder if it will be possible to attach the 360 HD-DVD drive. I still have many HD-DVD discs, and this could be the latest "combo" player if it will recognize the old drive as easy as Windows 7 does. Has this been asked or announced to be backwards compatible?

I certainly hope so, I have loads of HD DVDs/ Some Blue Ray players actually play HD DVDs so they could have added this compatibility but judging by the release yesterday they don't appear to like their customers so I doubt it will be compatable with HD DVDs or the drive itself

My guess would be that it will not have that kind of compatibility... Because the gaming marketplace is going to be extremely competitive for Q4 2013 and Q1 2014, they will want to try to undercut Sony with pricing and features and that usually will mean that their components in the X-Box One will not have a multi-function Blu-ray Drive... Expect it to be a Bluray and DVD drive only. The reason I say this, is because they stated that XBox One will not be backwards compatible with 360 games, which are in effect in the same architecture as the HD-DVD. That being the case, means they have move to a similar architecture that Sony has with their Bluray drive.

I doubt it - I thought they had already removed HD-DVD support from the Xbox 360 with one of the previous Dashboard updates.
You're best to hook it up to a PC and rip the discs if you still want to be able to play them in the future.

No, HD-DVD support is still there, and the add-ons are still recognized.
What MS has announced, though,is that NO peripherals, controllers,or accessories from the 360 will be compatible with the Xbone.
