From an 80" Sharp & 5.1 Bose Lifestyle to 7.2 Definitive Technology & 110" Projection - Thank you...

Good day, all.

When I first signed up for this forum about 3 months ago, boy was I wet behind the ears! I had made my mind up to go for an 80" Sharp 3D HDTV with a Bose Lifestyle V35 system.

I started a few threads and with a lot of help and suggestions from you AV gurus, learned a lot about speakers, setups, and getting the most bang for your buck.

It was definitely stressful at times. There's a ton... and I mean a TON of different routes one can take. It's quite overwhelming when you're just getting your feet wet.

I changed my mind at least 12x times on what speakers to use, what subwoofer(s) I wanted, what receiver to buy, and if I wanted to go with a projection screen or a huge HDTV. After all the hiccups and bumps in the road, I finally settled on my setup and began building my basement/home theater a couple weeks ago. Here are a few pictures of the progress.

Thanks for your time and interest in my build.

ZT

Looking good. I had some of the same issues you were having. Read a ton of Info and I was still confused until I asked BIGMOUTHINDC for his help. I am near the halfway point on my build and I have no regrets so far. Are you doing the work your self?

Hello NYGIANTSFAN23,

I appreciate you checking in... definitely good to hear I'm not the only one who was scatter-brained for a time being. Glad to hear things are going well for you and even more so that you're not regretting anything. It's great to have a site like this to get helpful insight from some just good folks that enjoy this stuff.

As for the work, I'm doing all of the a/v work... but my father-in-law is a general contractor so he's handling most everything else. This is right up his alley. And using my wife's "daughter discount" is definitely a big plus. He's been a great help and am very pleased with the progress we've made.

How about you? Are you doing the work yourself?

Thanks again!

Unfortunately, I am not that handy so I hired a contractor from this site. I am his helper and I have learned a lot over the past month or so. If you have any questions about your build, his name on the forum is BIGMOUTHINDC. He is very knowledgeable and if he can't help you or answer a question he will point you in the right direction.

It would be nice if you would post your pics from a 3rd party server like Photobucket so that they directly show up. It's a PITA to click on each pic one at a time! wink.gif

Is that a radon system or a sump pit? Also, how did you end up liking those speed boots? They look like they cost a bit more than a regular boot but could be built better.

DJ... it's a sump pit. And my father in law seems to like the speedy boots a good bit... I'm not much of a handy man so he's tackling most of this beast. He's used them on quite a few jobs. So far so good at least.

Here are some more pictures:

Day 9: Consisted of doors and window installation and finishing up the mud.

Day 10: Some of the crown molding installed and a good layer of primer. The stripper pole is now a column... shucks. wink.gif

Day 11: Finally... some paint on the walls!
