receivers done with big features for a while?

I've had bad luck (or lack of foresight) with receivers; I end up buying ones that work for my present purposes but are rendered obsolete quicker than I would like. My first was a Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVi, which couldn't support 1080p - so when I upgraded my projector to 1080p, had to buy a new receiver. My next (and current) was a Denon 4310, which doesn't support 3D - so when I eventually upgrade to 3D, probably later this year, I'll need another new receiver. Are there any big features like those coming in the next few years that I should have on my radar? If I buy, say, a Yamaha RX-A3020, am I going to be set for the foreseeable future (it says it even supports 4K, which is the only potential next big thing I'm aware of)? Thanks!

The new HDMI 2.0 spec should(?) be in receivers by next year, current HDMI chipsets can only handle 4K video at up to 30Hz. I'm sure that AVRs with "full" 4K capabilities are forthcoming.
