Thread Starter

Here at AVS Forum, we're all about community, and one important element of our community is giving props to those who post particularly interesting, helpful, and/or well-considered threads and comments. So we're launching an initiative to encourage members to click on the little green thumbs-up button at the bottom of each post when they find one that tickles their fancy. As people click on that button, an e-mail will be sent to the poster alerting them to the accolades and providing a link to the item that received the praise. After all, everyone enjoys getting kudos now and then!

The question is, what should AVS call this feature?

I Think It Should Be Called : Hi-Fi 'Ve !!!!!

In the early days of slickdeals they used "REP" which was appropriate. It suggested that a person was reputable. For a while they also had "nerps" negative rep points. Ah the good old days. These "nerps" were abused, riots ensued and ultimately they were discontinued.

REPS or REP is a good general indication of positiveness.

Imagine an email with the subject, "You've got Rep!"

Nod, aye, or favor would be some options.

Oh Gawd, Oh no...please...do not add a "like" button.

If there is any bigger scourge of the internet it is the utter pollution of every web site with (long string of expletives) "Like" buttons everywhere. I don't (more expletives) care that someone reading some comment or whatever "liked" it. This I do not need to know. And bloody Facebook links everywhere.

What to call the new button? Call it "off."

Although I voted for +1 because i find it an easy way to see if a post was praised alot by people, I agree about the "Aproved" name. It fits this particular forum where proffesionals and enthusiasts meet....or geeks smile.gif

Don't implement the feature at all, it's already dated and a carbon copy. This AVS and were smarter than this and considering how nasty some of these responses can get the feature will not make things better.

agreed.

why be try so hard to be trendy. thanks has worked for centuries and will continue to be appropriate.

pretty much everything else is a fad and will need to be changed in the future anyway

I don't see what a "like" button would do for the forum.
Now if you want to put an "idiot" button or "stupid sticker" button on every post that might be worthwhile.

Guys...

You're missing the point of this. The button is not new. It's been there all along next to the muti-quote button. All we're doing here is giving it a name for email notifications.

Sorry Mike, you may be missing the point. I get enough SPAM-like posts from forums already. I realize Huddler would love to invade the social media sphere too but frankly I'd call it an annoyance.
