My comments was just my experience with this set. My viewing habits and the issues I had made the set not right for me. Like I mentioned in another thread, if I did not have the IR issues I experienced I would still have the set. It is a fantastic set and it has fantastic IQ. However, what I experienced and knowing that my fiancée watches a lot of sports with tickers running on the bottom is something that I could not deal with, especially when I had IR that lasted almost 5 days. I was NOT using the pixel orbiter option however, I was using the TXH Cinema and THX Bright Room with the contrast toned down a but. The Pixel Orbiter option was greyed out and it said Auto. Based on the description on what it does, perhaps that would of avoided it, not sure.

Don't try to worry about it too much. It seems breaking in the screen is pretty important and I can say that the IQ from hour 1 to hour 150-200 was much better as the panel aged a bit. I would enjoy your screen and just be diligent with it.

1. Never had any experience with 3d and the glasses which I got with my panel have some red and blue squares in the middle, that are disturbingly looking like they are there on purpose? REALLY?

2. Now the other question - my older 10th gen plasma monitor worked as a charm via DVI in pixel per pixel mode. This one seems hard to setup for a HTPC monitor. Really having problems reading webpages in full HD (much better clearer and sharper in 1366x768 resolution) - which also was a bit of a case with my old 50" plasma but not as much. This TV seems to refuse to turn-off some overdrive circuitry despite all my setting changes... Any idea? May be time to update your video card to HDMI out, Buy a new PC, or buy a laptop. I never have have an issue using HDMI out.

3. Who can best calibrate my display in Chicago area or is there a place to download some premade presets like for camcorders and where? Sold my Eye1 Pro so cant do much myself I guess... Chad B services your area, google Chad B.

Wrong thread but the Oppo blu ray players I have owned have been nothing short of perfect. That is 4 different ones to date including the 103 to which I am using as I type to watch OZ - looks fantastic by the way on my lowly VT smile.gif

Yes I have heard in THX mode the Pixel orbitor is not engaged. This will make it more prone to IR.
I have not had IR problems but I do use a pro calibrated mode with the pixel orbitor engaged! I have watched a full preseason NFL network game without an issue!

That damn peacock and scoreboard did actually make a very slight appearance (but the game wasn't watched in full...there was boredom due to the ensuing blowout). This was temporary, however, as these images seemed to disappear near the end of a commercial break. More reports to follow with future games (not sure which). smile.gif

On the other hand, I have since put in Sammie's settings (until I can manage a calibration) and had a marathon with Breaking Bad last night...utterly engrossing PQ!

I'm enjoying the ZT60 even more these days. Now that I have watched a lot of content on it, its hard to watch similar content on other sets in the house. Feeling spoiled. Very glad I decided to go with this set. This is one of those rare years when there were so many great choices -- all the angst we see from people picking a set this year is truly justified in the plasma market.

Generally have done 100% 2-d viewing on this TV. Decided to put Life of PI 3d in to check it out (not much of a 3d fan... yet). Didn't get to see much, but what I did see was far more impressive than I expected! I just might watch more 3d on this set than I originally thought I would. I've been doing a Breaking Bad marathon on this set lately -- I can sum that up in a word: awesome!

Hope you all are enjoying your sets and *cough* not obsessing too much *cough*. I know some people are afflicted by the fans of doom which I also hope is getting fixed so they can enjoy this wonderful set.

I'm not going to rent that Pain and Gain garbage...the 30-day rental embargo for Oblivion is fortunately ending this week, so I'll be giving it a run! Have heard good things and I'm excited (minus the actors).

Sirh, what a coincidence (on Breaking Bad). Yes, I have fan noise that is detectable in the evening at low volume, but I am not interested in fighting Panasonic over it just yet.
Tonight's Breaking Bad episode just finished smile.gif

With my latest set, I am doing the same. I have not yet called Panasonic, and I may not do it at all. The new set is less noisy, and I am getting used to the fans.
The fans don't buy me too much but I have it in the back of my head that I'll eventually be scheduling a fan fix.

Been watching with Sammie's settings and am quite impressed. The blacks are nicely crushed and the red boost seems to balance out the green skin hue that has been bugging the crap out of me. I know a proper calibration is needed eventually but for now good work Sammie!

Also just FYI, my TV is getting replaced due to the fan noise and also intermittent chirping (refrigerator buzzing noise) - called Panasonic and they said to replace it 1st then they would send a tech out if there were still probs. Can hear it from 10ft+ away even for quite a while after disconnecting signal to the TV.
Also to those scared of burn-ins, please DON'T worry, I ran my previous plasma for many years mostly at windows desktop and after 720psome of first gens it's a NO-ISSUE

Thanks a lot in advance for any hlp.

What's your card? Maybe an upgrade will help. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but I was never happy with my various ATI cards so I switched to Nvidia and I have no problems.

As for the calibrator, ChadB is going to do mine when I finally get it setup and he returns to Chicago.

Thanks for all help so far, Chad B seems to be in OH but will try to find sb local or see how to contact him.

Regarding PQ on the desktop it is independent of HDMI or DVI - trust me, my HTPC has all of it - top of the line with Lynx Audio and I AM using HDMI now. Surely MPC madvr/lav and Powerdvd for 3D - but I have NO PROBLEM with movies etc - these I love on my ZT.
The thing is that professional plasma monitors like my old PH10UK take addon cards like DVI which do not overscan at all (and scale back later - my GUESS ONLY at this time), while it's invisible in movies etc - it really gives a worse quality of text on your desktop on that ZT.

Just like I really only liked the text on my previous monitor with 0 sharpness value in the menu (was perfect), any sharpness level set from 1-100 would ruin the text and make it harder to read.

With this one text is never as sharp as it should be unless you lower the resolution to say 1366x768, then it's really crisp.

The truth is that text was also crisper on my old DVI plasma at 1366x768 but to a lesser extent. It's like using poor VGA cable for analog monitor. Kind of blurring it and making harder on your eyes... Or maybe it's with all the plasmas and we would need a better scaling OS.
For now I used some clearType tricks and opted to stay at 100% font size in windows 7. My dream is a clear sharp text like on a desktop LCD. If anybody can do it then let me know, please!

Do you get audible humming from the 2 fans on the back of your Panasonic Plasma? I bought 65" TC-P65ZT60 (65") 3 weeks ago (Aug 9th) . You can hear the fans 15' away where I sit on my couch up to a volume of around 15 on the TV. The TV is on a console currently around 2-3 feet from wall (with hard wood floors) waiting for Side tiers and Bridge cabinets to be delivered tomorrow. When there is silent moment in the movies it is clearly audible. Two nights ago the TV was off for almost 2 hours yet when I walked into the room to turn the lights off to go to bed I could hear the fans STILL on 20' away in a quiet house.. Im told there is a Panasonic patch that fixes a defect at the base of the fans that are causing the humming noise and cuts out most of the noise but I am getting the run around from Panasonic. Great picture but the noise is very distracting. The Best Buy 1-800 guy told me I should just get a SONY or Samsung in a comparable or possibly even 70". So I have a week to decide if I want to switch as per Best Buys return policy. When I called Panasonic they went through a checklist and told me I would be contacted with 24-48 hours for a technician to schedule a visit . When I got a call 24 hours later thinking it was a call to set up a specific time to fix the problem the new Panasonic guy repeated the same checklist almost verbatim and then said the TV meet s design specs. He had me turn the TV to 50% Max volume asking if I could hear the humming and acted perturbed when I told him of course you cant hear it then as I could not even hear him on the phone without turning the volume down. (Not hooked into speaker yet). I was told the first Panasonic rep had not recorded/notated our conversation even though I asked him 3 times to do so before giving me a case number.. I then asked to speak to supervisor and waited for 10 minutes on the phone and the rep came back and said the supervisor was not available but he would call back tomorrow. Its 4 days now and no return call from Panasonic. With it being Labor Day and all I will cut some slack but will insist on something done in next couple day or return the TV to Best Buy.

The Best Buy Manager said he has a friend who is a Panasonic rep who he will check with to see if they can come to my house in the next few days. I will know by Wednesday Sept 4 if they follow up

The picture quality is great. The 1-800 BestBuy guy said Panasonic made two different version of the ZT60 and the one I have is most likely the newer version with louder fans to address overheating
issues of the first release

Also do the Panasonic Plasmas run warmer than the SONY/Samsung LEDs?

I bought MartinLogan Motion 40s with an upgraded Motion 30 center channel and have a Pioneer Elite SX70 A/V receiver. Will add one or two subwoofers in a month or so and am thinking about maybe one Martinlogan700s that are wireless.. Will research than in the next few weeks and Im told the subwoofer dont need to be the same brand I also paid $50 extra per speaker on the ML40s and 30 and got the Cherry finish which is gorgeous

Sorry about that. I thought his email address would be at that link. Send him a personal message (PM) using his AVS name and he'll get the message and probably reply quickly once the sun come up in his part of the world. smile.gif

Or you can go to post #2901 in this thread, point at his user name, and click on "Send PM" in the drop down list.

It must have been the same BB guy who told me the ZT60 was due to be released in January of 2014.
