That's normal for plasma. you shouldn't see it watching normal media.

Got it - thanks a lot!

Also just noticed that I didn't turn the pixel orbiter off for the first 50 hours. I turned it off now and after playing with it it looks like it actually moves the whole picture around a little bit. For reference, when turned on does the image shift around on a certain time interval or something?

I went to a local best buy that had this tv and the buzz was maybe 1/4 what I am experiencing, I could barely hear it with my head right next to the tv.

My experience with buzzing is the room acoustics and mounting style can drastically change it. In my room, I could hear buzzing on similar minus -30ish (Denon receiver) volume levels. I also had loud fan noise (July build) and a purple halo so I actually exchanged the set. Next TV that arrived was also July build but had a quieter fan and no purple halo so that's good, however, the buzzing sounded very similar. This made me think it would be highly unlikely to get two equally "severely bad" buzzers so I started to experiment since this was the only remaining issue. I put a blanket behind my tv on the wall which is like 18" away (I have it on a stand) and this cut it down to the point you couldn't hear it anymore unless the volume was off and you tried to identify it. It was clear that the walls and geometry of the room was amplifying the sound.

My $0.02 on some other things you can try. Comparing how it sounds in best buy is very tough because of all the environmental (noise, room, etc) differences.

Very interesting comment. I think you are on to something with that observation.

I have DVE DVD, but I want to upgrade to a blu-ray calibration disc. It would be great if I can also use the disk to set up my 5.1 surround. I saw Disney WOW blu-ray being mentioned a few times here and on other forums, so unless there are better options, I am thinking about going with that.

Which blu-ray calibration disc do you recommend for this set?

Hey guys,

I just bought the P60ZT60 tonight and I am having it delivered in a week. I was curious if I need to break the tv in? If so could someone please tell me what I should do. I was looking at the Sony 4k but when I saw this tv I knew that this was the better set. Thank you for any help.

Yes, but I don't know what it is. I don't own a Panasonic, but I understand that if you select FULL size mode, the Orbiter will be turned off and the source data stream will be mapped on the screen pixel by pixel which will be the optimum picture quality possible. How good that is will also depend on all the other settings and how they are adjusted.

If you want more than the Wow disk offers then go to spearsandmunsil.com. I have an audio calibration disk from aixrecords.com. It's title is AIX Records: Audio Calibration Disc, HD Music Sampler.

I have a 65ZT # 085XX that also has a build date of July - delivered 11/8 - no pixel problem - minor fan noise - barely noticeable

Actually, even a month and a half of slides may not be enough. I recommend doing 7 months and by the time you're done you can just buy next year's model.

denaliman,

Can you let us know how the fan noise is. Congrats on your August ZT build unit. Cherish it.

I can report a very slight fan noise. I am not sure what others are hearing and how loud theirs is. I don't hear whistling, whining or a loud noise. I can definitely hear a slight fan running from 10 ft away. More like the sound of a computer fan running and I do notice it during quiet dialog, again because I know it is there.. However, I am really listening for the sound. My wife says she can't hear it unless she gets right up to the panel.. Maybe I am being picky and expecting the noise to be there. Personally I find the slight buzzing more annoying.. My 8 year old 50" PX500u Panny Plasma that I just took down was dead silent and no buzz at all.

FWIW...I checked my 65"VT50 for fan noise as well. I don't think the ZT I have is any worse than the VT. I sit further away from my VT and never really noticed it or thought it was an issue. Now that I am aware of the fan on the VT50 (geeze thanks guys!) I can hear it on mute or very slightly low volume scenes if I concentrate, but normal listening volume it is a non-issue. Although the "tone" of the VT fan is not as low drone as the ZT. Given that, I am guessing I got a better than average ZT.

Its been cold lately and of course my ZT will be exposed to the frigid temperatures. How long will I have to let my ZT adjust to normal room temperatures before turning it on.
Also, I downloaded D-Nices break in slides for 2013 Panasonics. I'm questioning whether I downloaded the correct ones. There are only 15 slides: Red, Blue, Green and the rest of various shades of gray/white. Is this correct?
Thanks
A temperature gun, they are pretty cheap smile.gif Get one of those and you will know when it is time smile.gif If you are willing to break in your set, isn't your new toy worth it ?

An hour or two........you can feel it with your hand to get a sense when it is room temperature.

Interestingly, I shot both the 65' Zt and 60" F8500 with my laser temperature gun. Front of panel top left Panny is 112F, bottom left 98F, center middle of panel 112F. top mid 102F, Top right 108F bottom right 98.5F- Ambient room temp 69.5F
F8500 top left 90F, bottom left 87F, center middle 87F, top mid 102F, Front right 94F bottom right 90.5F- ambient room temp 70F.

Panny is considerably hotter. Both on for 6 hours same content

The back of the Samsung is just as close. Panny panel thickness is 1.9" and the Samsung is 2.1". The Samsung has a lot more open holes across the top for cooling, heat exhaust. Panny has approx 54 sq.In of open cooling vents vs Samsung 204 sq.in. almost 4 times open cooling vents that ZT.. Samsung also has no fans so it doesn't have the potential pull in excess dust from the incoming air flow like the Pannys..

Ha Ha...The Hitachi is in the one of the bedrooms and still has an awesome picture especially for watching Formula One ,racing and other sports and it is not even Full 1080P. Quiet as a mouse, no buzz and SD broadcasts look great.
