OK... Major update for me. I have returned my XB1 in favor of a PS4. I returned/traded my XB1 copy of BF4 and got the 360 version back and I plan to play BF4 on the 360 for now. This move cost me $5 after all of my Power Up discounts. I also got a refund on the BF4 premium pass.

I don't plan to buy BF4 on the PS4 any time soon but may do so in the future. I hope the rumors of EA/DICE switching BF4 to a Ubisoft/UPlay style of platform integration is true. If when that does happen, I will seriously consider getting BF4 on the PS4.

Reasons... while I think the XB1 and PS4 each have their own pros/cons, for me it was the flip/flop/flip on the DRM issue, the future increase of the XBL cost to $90, the removal of a great portion of the XB1 features and basically everything on the XB1 being behind the XBL firewall.

Honestly, the state of BF4 is pretty bad on both the PS4 and XB1 although things seem better for now on the XB1. Some folks have had great reports post patch while for others things are worse.

So, i'll be looking for any AVS folks still playing on the 360.

Do you have a link for the XBL future increase?

No, that's why I would like to see some link or is all that FUD back from E3?

EDIT: Though for $90 I would love if they did a Music/Movie combo pass where you could stream both for the year wink.gif

Well we are finally off and running after a hairy start. Had to use the USB flash stick but now we are Installing games and Apps. The only game we have been able to play so far has been Killer Instinct. The Wife has always been a big fan. Hopefully the other games don't take as long to install. At least we are this far. Now !

Where did this $90 rumor come from? I've never heard anything about it. It sounds more like FUD.
Even though XBL retails for $60 a year now, I only paid $35 for each of the last few years I've added.

Same here. Just got my 12 month gold card from Newegg just 20 minutes ago for $35.

All of the info I have heard, and some I did not mention, was from a GS store manager. I don't see him has having a bias one way or the other but I don't have anything to confirm.

Then your not the smartest. GAMESTOP IS BIASED! They want the ps to succeed and Microsoft to fail. Digital content would put them out of business.

GS itself has a notable Sony bias. The fallout from a 50% increase in the cost of XBL would be ruinous for MS an a big win for Sony if they kept PSN+ at the same price it is now. I can't believe that they'll do that.

Sony's actually doing DD better than MS at this point, with support for pre-ordering including pre-order bonuses and maybe early downloading with midnight release day activation. I do think that MS' initial DRM proposal put a scare in them, pushing them to recommend the PS4 over XB1.

I really wish that "My Games and Apps" wouldn't show in the 4 recently used boxes on the main home screen. It's kind of dumb that that is always in there when it's also in the right column. I'd rather the Store didn't show in there as well since it's the next screen over, but I can understand that one a whole lot more than the My Games and Apps.

I know for a fact the initial design of the xbox one scared them...and still we all know this system was not made to use disc based games.

Neither system was; art assets are too big now to allow them to be streamed from BDs and everything has to be installed on HDD whether from a disc or download. After installation the discs for either system have no use other than to prove that you own the game.

***HELP WITH NOISE ISSUE***

I'm experiencing a noise issue with my X1 and I wanted to find out what, if anything, is wrong. When I first got my X1 and turned it, other than the few seconds of power up sounds, the only sustained sound I heard was the fan, and only if you were right next to it. Yesterday when I turned it on I heard a buzzing/humming sound (similar to the sound of a DVR or laptop) that stayed on for 5 minutes or so before stopping. Though not loud, I could hear it throughout the room. Something seems amiss. .

I've never heard a DVR or laptop make a buzzing sound. Hopefully it is not a major issue.

Is it the actual xbone or the power supply?

I had a bad power supply on my day one edition and amazon sent me a replacement that's completely silent.

Actually there's an explanation: I also own a ps3 and recently I've been playing a lot of my solo games over there.

Hey, hey. My sports car just got put away for the winter. Here in the snowy Michigan it's SHO time on my daily commute.
-- see what I did there?
-- SHO time, get it? As in Taurus SHO... Haha... I'm an idiot... biggrin.gif

Definitely not the power supply. I found out about the power supply noise when searching for info about my issue. My PSU has a very soft hum, I think it has a small fan inside, can't remember. The noise I hear emanates from the console itself, particularly through the vents. I can hear it throughout my room, which sucks.

From what I've gathered from others what I'm experiencing isn't normal. For two weeks mine was quiet, except for the low fan noise.

I already contacted the MS Store where I purchased it and seems like a replacement won't be an issue.
Definitely not normal for any device to have a loud humming noise that you can hear throughout the room.

biggrin.gif And don't forget we live in an age where companies pay people to spout the same rubbish online................for the slower group there were many paid shills in the "Anti-DRM" rants.

It either is an offical announcement from the company.........or.........it ain't/didn't happen.

***XBOX ONE NOISE UPDATE***

So I took my X1 to the MS Store and the tech took it in the back to examine it and deemed a replacement necessary. Process was easy.

I take the new one home and power it on and I can hear a slight oscillating electrical hum the entire time it's on. It's not as loud as the one it replaced, but I don't remember the first one making anything other than a soft shhhhhhhh sound from the fan until it started making the louder noise. With the new one I can hear the oscillating humming noise from a few feet away. I thought the X1 was suppose to be quiet other than the soft noise from the fan, which can only be heard right up close. What are the odds that I get another one with a noise issue?

Can any of you hear a slight oscillating electrical hum from 2-4 feet way?
I have a question, what kind of surface is it on? I thought my Xbox was making a noise, but then I realized that the glass it sat on in my entertainment center was vibrating. I put some cloth under the shelf and it took care of it.

I think when it is doing something in standby there is some kind of fan on. Normally in standby my XBOne draws around 16.5 watts, but sometimes I'll notice it drawing 17.5 to 18 watts and this is when I will hear a fan or something inside. I can easily hear it in a quiet room within a few feet, but it is rarely quiet and I'm rarely within a few feet of it. But it's certainly nothing like the fan in a TiVo or other DVR that I can always hear from 15 to 20 feet away in a quiet room.
I used to think of my Xbox 360 S as being super quiet but now I definitely notice it (it's on right now--I was playing some Rock Band 3). I cannot hear the sound of the XB1 from six feet away.
