Yes it is. Easily the best looking game on the system. I fired it back up when I got my new tv last week and it was amazing.

Do they have a demo for ryse yet?

Nope. There are only five or six demos total so far and the one for DR3 limits you to 20 minutes of play.

I personally think that it's a good game which could have been great with the addition of some platforming elements or something. Great story and truly impressive graphics.

While i think Ryse's cut scenese and character models are the best looking of all games so far, overall I think AC4 Black Flag looks better overall, especially when you take into account the huge open world.

I agree. Ryse likely wins all the technical comparisons. But, AC4 just looks wonderful when climbing up high above the sparkling, bright blue Caribbean.

I think Ubisoft did design things specifically for the One though:

I also wish the DD games were cheaper. I'd like to be able to jump between my games seamlessly. I'm not paying full price knowing that I'm stuck with the game forever. Plus I don't get the little extras offered by retailers for pre-orders.

I have this happening also...I haven't been able to properly troubleshoot to try and determine when it is switching though. Are you feeding your cable box to the XB1?
When I switch it back to 5.1 I can't really tell a difference in the sound quality either. AVS, will my receiver (Onkyo NR818) just drop the extra channels with no degraded sound quality?

The only thing I can identify so far is when I go from an HD channel with 5.1 audio to SD and stero the One will switch over to Stero, but not revert back to 5.1 when I do somethign different like play a game. I would think if one setting would not remember, then all of them would be going out as well. Very minor bug for me since it is easy to swap it back to 5.1 PCM in the settings with Kinnect, but it does get annoying having to do it a couple times a week.

I was having this discussion early with smithfarmer, aaronwt and michaeltscott. They provided a couple interesting points of view on why DD may not be cheaper in the near-term, at least for new releases. I currently have a couple of DD games and jumping between games is not very seamless. Moving between games and other system apps is very seamless, but moving from game to game is very slow. The system requirements for gaming must be fairly high as the XBONE only keeps one game open at a time closing it entirely when another game begins loading/playing.

In order to get DD to gain more traction, two things, offer the DD at a discount (which then makes all the retailers mad so it's not going to happen for new releases anyways) OR something that could happen would be full price DD games and as an added perk, DD users get a discount on their DLCs. Be it that their DLC for the season is going to be 50% off or the first DLC pack is free or whatever combo they use. If they did that, I would be more inclined to buy DD vs. traditional disks which I Have every intention of selling.

Just some new observations with my XBOX One...

Had to buy a new headset last week. Many people I was in-game with would complain about it 'crackling', like there was a loose wire. No physical damage evident. I'll eventually get around to trying to file a warranty claim on the original headset so I can have a spare.

Used Skype for the first time last night to get into a conference call with a bunch of friends. Played some BF4 while in and it seemed fine, but then after a while I switched to just having the TV on in the background while we played on online PC game together. Though the audio was fine, the controller would occasionally turn off, so I had to turn it back on a few times. Then, after ~2 hrs of being on the call, the Xbox just shut down, leaving the TV, STB and AVR all on. I had to physically push the "X" button on the console to get it to power on (which of course then powered off all the other devices). Not sure why it did that, as I had been wiggling the controller sticks every 5-10 minutes just to make sure it stayed 'awake'.

Overall, I'm still very pleased with my XBone, despite a few bugs here and there.

I'm glad I picked one up from bestBuy when they had their special. I got an XBOne controller and a PS4 controller. They gave me a $25 gift card with the order. And today i got an email code from them for $15 to use. Now that i got the codes i will open the packages. I had been waiting in case they didn't send me the $15 code.

That 'Xbox Sign Out' video was funny. biggrin.gif

Have a feeling that will spawn a whole new batch of voice command related gamertags.

I don't know that I want to buy a supposedly new something from a seller called "Best Pawn". (Too late anyway--it's gone).

Ya, I had some doubts as well. I emailed the seller to confirm that it was a brand new in box xbox one controller and he said it was. I'll find out soon enough, I just wish there were some better two player games.

I have been thinking about getting the lego marvel game, anyone here played it? Any good? I tried the demo and it was fun, but it didn't let you roam around in the open world which is a shame.

Seriously? I thought moving between DD's was supposed to be just as seamless as moving between apps. Maybe that's something that can be improved upon with a future update.

Awesome idea if you normally buy DLC.

If you go from playing one DD game to another DD game it instantly switch to the new game, but it's starting it from scratch, so it takes however long to get started as it would otherwise take. There's nothing to be improved about that. If you didn't quit out of the last game that you played you can switch from it to an app and back and the game will be in paused state right where you left off, but the machine can only be running one game at a time.

Switching from Game to Game on Xbox One (Click to show)

In that clip the guy doesn't let each game get to the point where you could start playing it.

It makes perfect sense to pass along the savings a DD model provides to the customer base, especially since the gamer lose the ability to trade older games. Unfortunately, DD is not about saving US any money. It's all about MS and game developers making more $$$. I am interested in seeing how the Playstation NOW ends pricing older games and new games. Maybe it will be more gamer friendly and help drive lower prices on the MS side.

The savings are pretty small. In lots of 10K you can 25GB BDROMs printed with surface silkscreen, box art and insert for something $1.50 apiece. I'm sure that game publishers can beat that significantly. The cost of distributing them probably doesn't add much per-disc.

Yeah, nothing is going to change that short of throwing in another 5GB of ram.

They never said you could move between two games that way. It works just the way they advertised for me. It's seamless for me, it starts the new game right away. And most of the apps are still up and running when I switch between them. But the apps don't take up much memory like a full game does. They only have 8GB of non-volatile flash memory for this don't they? You can only do so much with a limited amount of memory.

I suppose if they used SSDs for the storage drive it could be done but that would be too expensive.

IIRC during one of the e3 demos they showed it switching between forza and killer instinct super fast. And I don't recall them really saying it wouldn't work this way for games, just that it would work this way for apps. So they're responsible for setting that expectation, and they can't expect most people to understand the technical reasons why they can't do it with the hardware they have.

As michaeltscott pointed out, switching between game loading screens is seamless and fast. This is what most likely was demoed - marketing smoke and mirrors. I don’t have a problem with it as I only play one game at a time and whatever game I’m playing is always in the background so I can quickly resume whenever I like.

Does anyone know how to play tv on startup? Every morning I say “xbox turn on” and it turns everything on but its still in the xbox dash board and with the small tv window. Then I have to wait for the profile sign in, then I say “xbox watch tv" to get it full screen. Is there a default “watch tv” as soon as it turns on?
