They've been advertising the Lego Movie for months. I can't even count the number of previews for it that I've skipped over.

The movie has been hyped for a long time with AMAZING reviews.

Now that it is out....still no game reviews.

I was going to be brave and pick it up today & report back but all of the big box stores still have it listed as $60....NO THANKS.

Activision is saying that their future CoD games (starting with 2014) will focus on next-gen hardware.

“Obviously in the console-transition year, anyone who developed a cross-generational game last year had to deal with the fact that the technology of the next-gen platforms was still coming into focus and changing quite a bit during the development process…. Now that we have the next-gen hardware out in the marketplace and solid, that is our primary development.”

Pretty much seems like an admission that last year's game was nothing but a rushed port on PS4/X1. I think this gives hope that future games will be optimized for X1 hardware, which will hopefully close the gap in the whole resolution/FPS discussion.

Here's an article on IGN with the Sniper Elite dev explaining why it's harder to get 1080p out of the xb1. Also says there is a new SDK (software development kit) coming that should make coding for the xb1's unique hardware easier and that he doesn't think you'll see differences in performance for much longer.

Any AVS gurus (BD or Tyrant or anyone else) mind chiming in?

Is this Dev BS to make MSFT happy, or is this legit?

Seems legit and makes sense, but you never know.

I'm a programmer myself. It makes sense that if the new SDK abstracts away some of the memory management and the tools do that part, then the developers don't have to worry so much about optimizing and finding tricks to push the capability. It's still no question the ps4 is more powerful, but that doesn't mean the xb1 sdk can't make getting the most out of the hardware even easier.

No one "wants" to do memory management. That's why I like Java. Garbage collection FTW!

I personally think when Naughty Dogs or Santa Monica create their games we will see some disparity between XB1 and PS4 but I think they will be able to pretty much match multiplatform games.  You cannot deny the power difference and some studios will take advantage but I can't see it being a big or really noticeable besides exclusives.

It's a reasonable claim that the complexity of the X1 requires a longer time to get up to speed with it, but that shouldn't be taken to mean they'll be equal in the end. The disparity will be persistent in AAA games.

Was prompted to update the bluray app. What was fixed?
Has anyone seen anything on how large the update is going to be tomorrow? I've been out of the loop for the past few days. I'm looking forward to it, but will be a little bummed if I can't get some Powerstar Golf in after work. My newest hook that is frustratingly enjoyable.

Btw- I know its a manual start update, I'm just anxious to see any of the new features it may bring.

I've been playing Xbox Music on the Xbox One. When it comes to the collection, is it actually downloading any of the songs to the HDD? Or is it all streaming? Is there a download option like on the PC or phones? It says it's syncing but if it's all cloud, what is syncing?

It's only syncing your library list in case you purchased or added any new songs on your PC. I guess it would've been more correct if they wrote Refreshing library or something like that. Unfortunately, Microsoft only allows streaming on Xbox consoles. You can download songs to your collection only on Windows Phones or a computer. You have to read the little stars on their website to know this - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/music/music-pass

WIsh they would give us a complete list of what is being updated instead of being so mysterious.

Keeps the competition guessing.

Once they finalize it and release it they should announce what it does.

IGN has some new videos from Evolve. I don't recall reading much about this game, but it looks quite impressive.

Nice Link @tsaville. The other one that looks interesting is Lords of the Fallen

So with that, I think I can now hopefully go get a pair of wireless headsets and move it between the Xbox One and PS4. I could be wrong on that, but it would be nice to only have to have one pair for gaming late at night.

I'm confused, what is the point of this adapter ? Without Dolby digital, 90 % of gamers that had an existing headset , will be stuck playing in downsampled stereo sound. From the press release it sounds like this is for chat only . What is Ms doing ? From the sound of things, this isnt included in the spring patch ?

With how big the Patch is suppose to be in March I imagine they will get the Dolby DIgital in that up and going. If not, no big deal for me since I can still use the headsets on my PS4 biggrin.gif
post #13016 of 14780
Yeah, I think it is chat only. Seems like what you'd need to get chat working with a mixamp. It basically brings it back in line with the functionality of the original 360 controller.

Yep, I have Astro 5.8 with a pair of Sennheiser pc360, sound amazing on Ps4, you would think Ms would make a big deal if included in patch, as lots of gamers were in uproar over no dolby digital.

Good point. Maybe it is not coming in March after all.

Here's mine. For a couple of dollars, if you have any soldering skill, you can build your own. There are instructions on the internet. I built one within a few days of getting the One and have been using it with my A50's ever since. It also works with my Tritton 720's. You just change out the cable to connect from the chat cable and the plug into the headset.Turned the Kinect chat off. Without Dolby, you set the one to output stereo and the headsets use the built in Dolby Pro Logic II and give you surround sound. Sounds really good for gaming.

I tried enabling 24p to see if the update fixed it. It didn't. Still out of sync. It doesn't appear to be as bad as before, but still bad. I was hoping that they might have added the ability to just bitstream the audio to your receiver, but that wasn't in there either.
