To me switching the model for how video games are classified and distributed.........and hopefully causing publishers and designers to reform their process was 'next gen' in a sense....moreso than more/faster pixels. We will never now since we and they are going to be doing the exact same thing for the next 7 years that we have been for the last. What MS was doing was not perfect and perhaps a bit overboard but at least it was in the right direction.
Does Microsoft plan on releasing most titles day one as a DD? If so that's new and that still is a step in the right direction. If they aren't, well then, they are idiots.
I still don't get the problem. Now our options are:
1) if you want a disc to later sell/trade/give away, you can do that. You just miss out on fast game swapping/download whenever you want
2) if you like DD, you can do that and get all the benefits that go with it and deal with the DRM.
