Make it happen please!

Imagine bombing around a space fighter ala something like the Vipers/Raptors in Battlestar Galactica while capital ships duke it out?

You think there's any chance of this happening in Destiny? Bungie was the dev for Reach afterall.

I seem to remember reading you had access to ships in Destiny somewhere, not sure in what capacity though.

Haha. Nobody told this kid to do this...maybe his friends. If you listen closely I am pretty sure he says "Bing is garbage". Which IMHO is not the case, but that is obviously a Microsoft search engine. Microsoft wouldn't stage a verbal attack on their own search engine for a covert ad.

This is on him alone, and his daddy or mom is gonna cut him up when they realize it. Hopefully not getting canned cause they have a possible moron for a son!

However, other than the bing comment, I think it is a fairly effective ad if it would have been staged. Seeing the game run in that window is highly effective, even if you knew it would do that.... seeing it is crazy effective!

Now if the kid had just clicked on the what's new in beta tab, we would be getting somewhere!

***Original video has been taken down; however, people have swiped it and have reposted it.***

Just read in another thread that the kid has a video (I guess on Youtube) with his entire family in it. EPIC NDA FAIL!

However, that dashboard looked hot! and what is Savage Frontier? Only a D&D reference online as another thread mentioned. Looks like it shows planets. Probably a Kinect experience with navigating the solar system or something. If it was a game, that would be tough to keep under wraps I would presume. However, a Kinect demo seems more likely. (wild guess). But a D&D secret game would be cool!

Found some dos games on youtube called "Gateway to the Savage Frontier" and "Treasures of the Savage Frontier" 1-4. Appears to be dungeon crawlers. D&D I think....SSI was the company...that is D&D, no? However, with the planets in the tile picture...this is most likely not a D&D game of any sort. Does space factor into D&D at all for those more versed in D&D than I? I am guessing not. So probably solar system Kinect game, that is my guess.

saw this article dated July 31... it's in Korean and who knows the accuracy of the google translator (any Koreans out there)?

http://news.mk.co.kr/newsRead.php?year=2013&no=652269

Sungho Elec. stock soars on Xbox One deal

Shares of Sungho Electronics jumped 14.77 percent to end at 1,360 won on the KOSDAQ bourse Tuesday after news the company began to provide [film capacitors] for Microsoft’s game console Xbox One.

The supply began this month and will expand to 3 million units a month in August, the company said.

The game console is a new product to be launched in 21 countries from November. The global game console market reached 26 million units last year. [Film capacitors] for game consoles had been controlled by companies in Taiwan and Japan.

Hah, wow. Yeah, that link is definitely NSFW. Good info but maybe put the link in spoiler tags.

If you didn't get to see the video before it got pulled, it's mirrored around, but here's a link to one: http://www.dailymotion.com/suda51_is_a_bot#video=x14f9z2

Yes, if someone can find a 720p or 1080p mirror of this video, that would be nice. I am seeing sub SD mirrors. Not sure what the original was recorded at. 720 or 1080 I am guessing. I understand it is a long shot due to quick take down, etc. Unfortunately the two stickers got blasted with light. Sure wish we could have taken a look at those :P

Oh well. biggrin.gif

Even the earlier Descent games, which were planetbound, but involved combat in a hovering figher with 360 degree free movement like a space shooter. I remember my favorite controller for games like that, SpaceOrb 360; I gave my last one away to the PC gaming son of a close friend, new and in the box.

Other than a brief interlude in Halo Reach, were there any successful games with space combat for 360 or PS3? They really ought to be revisited in the new generation.

Yeah I love some space shooters myself. My father, brother and I are huge fans of the C&C series and we bought the whole collection on Origin. Do you or anyone know where we can find versions of Freespace, Wing Commander and Decent that are updated for Windows 7 and 8? I still play Homeworld 2.

My personal favorite digital store, GOG.com, has both Freespace games, the Descent series, and nearly all of the Wing Commanders I believe. No Homeworld...yet.

Honestly you're not missing much, it's not like he really goes in depth. Seemed mostly like he just wanted to show off that he had it.

Pretty much... I agree, though, that the portion of the video with Ryse running in a window was impressive. It really shows off the strength of the hypervisor base that they've built the XB1 on. It is amazing how far VM technology has come in the last 6-7 years or so. With this iteration of hypervisor they have successfully been able to provide exclusive hardware access to a VM and that is a huge leap forward. It has been possible for awhile, but to have a console succeed at it is great for gaming and media experiences in general. Seamless multitasking *is* next gen. The 360 tried to lean that way with the always on dashboard but never fully succeeded.

Major Nelson is now on Gaf if anyone cares to follow him on there. He was asked about the leaked video yesterday and mentions an official walkthrough of the UI will be coming in a couple of weeks.

What the heck. I don't know if we are being juiced or what but take a look at this. Anyone know if reddit can be hijacked, or is this an actual developer.

I am starting to have dreams of Korean capacitors dancing in my head after reading this thread below eek.gif

I don’t like it…it disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product. Sure, it’s cheeky but I don’t care for it myself.

cheeky.... dude...

I would agree that it is disrepectful but in all honesty it's too late now and I am suprised no one on the inside thought of it before the release at E3.....

there is a hands-on impression over on ign.com

I don't know if this was mentioned before, or if it is even big news. I pulled this from an AP article about MS releasing XBOX music to other OS than Windows 8.

"Starting with its release Nov. 22, Xbox One users will also be able to play games while listening to Xbox Music simultaneously, a feature that isn't offered on the Xbox 360."
