I don't understand the eBay thing; neither manufacturer is expecting shortages. There's no evidence that you won't be able to walk into Wal Mart on launch day and pick one up off the shelf. Maybe not the Xbox One "Day One Edition" or PS4 "Launch Edition" but are those worth paying hundreds of dollars over retail for rolleyes.gif?

I don't think you are going to be able to get either one on launch day without a preorder or standing in a long line all night. I do believe that most people will be able to get one before Christmas though.

Even Wal-Mart takes preorders now, so I doubt they'll have any just out on the shelves.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't articles lately hinted that there actually is a good chance there will be a shortage those first few weeks (possibly up to X-mas)?

You'd be amazed at the things people buy on Ebay. I always buy the hardened edition of each COD game. I am able to sell everything out of it, except the game disc itself which I keep obviously. I have sold the steel case, digital codes for camos, etc. I even sold the cardboard box for the hardened edition for Blops 2.

I am not surprised at all that the consoles are selling for decent money right now. If it gets closer and there are any rumors of shortages, the prices will skyrocket.

Partially why I still have kept my $25 Day One XBone pre-order on at BB.

I'm looking forward to Peggle 2 on the XBOne. My GF and I had fun with the first one on the 360.

I really wish now I would not have cancelled my two PS4 preorders and two of my XBOne pre-orders. If I had known the markup would be that much I would have just sold them all and picked up the new systems sometime later. Or sold the PS4 systems to cover the cost of two XBOne systems and profit to pick up a PS4 later.

Guess I better borrow from the 401k to start my console flipping e-bay store... wink.gif

If this default happens, it might be the only safe investment.

Encouraging to see high praise for Ryse in that clip. Of course, it was all praise for everything; OXM UK knows on which side their bread is buttered and would probably not have chosen to edit in highly negative impression if there'd been any biggrin.gif.

I think if you attend a special event (and many who would go out of the way to attend one of these events would think it is special), you are more likely to be excited than pessimistic.

Just like you can hear a comedy cast on the TV or radio, and you don't understand why the audience is laughing as the jokes are hit and miss. But if you attend the comedy club and just because of the atmosphere, being with your friends, the food and drink, etc., you end up laughing at almost everything. Just being there makes the comedy somehow better. I don't think I've ever attended a comedy club where everyone wasn't laughing to some degree.

My thoughts exactly.

Thats just human nature in general. We enjoy events & experiences in person, much more than we do watching it on video. Its the reason why people still attend sports events, speaking events, concerts, etc in person. There is nothing like experiencing something first hand with your own ears, eyes and touch.

That said, I cant wait for this last remaining month wait to hurry up and past by. Not so much than I can play the new consoles, but that the internet can finally get beyond analyzing every spec, review, video and announcement. And people can finally experience both new consoles first hand.. and form their own opinion of how great or not the experience is with each. Instead of debating how great or not it "might" be. It doesn't help that these consoles were announced so early on and that everyone seems to have internet access and is participating on a forum/blog/tech website now.

I just went thru the same thing on Corvette Forum where a entirely new Corvette has finally started shipping to customers this month, after 9 model years of the previous generation. Being this new generation "C7" was announced way back in January, meant that the "C7 thread" has full of debating, questions and bickering for the past 9 months. Now that guys are finally picking up their new Corvette and actually driving them. Its been absolutely amazing watch that particular forum change from the "woulda, coulda, shoulda crowd" to real experiences, real observations and real opinions about the new car. Having just seen the new C7 in person for the first time two weeks ago.. and getting to sit in it and adjust anything I wanted. There is no video, stat, spec or blogger review that even comes close to what I experienced with my own senses 1st hand.

Dont you still have time to change it to next day shipping or a faster option? Or you just dont mind getting a few days later?

Depending on how far you live from an Amazon distribution center, might get free next day shipping anyways. I live about 5 miles west of the Washington, DC border in MD. And my Amazon shipments generally come from VA or PA. Considering they are both border states with MD.. even with 2 day shipping they get here in one day most of the time. In fact, Amazon ships so quickly that Madden 25th Annv edition actually arrived on Monday 7/26.. the day before it was scheduled to launch on Tuesday, 7/27. I was fortunate enough to have the same thing happen with the original Xbox 360 launch back in November. I was living in Paterson, NJ at the time.. and my launch day 360 showed up the day before the actual date.

Hell even my returns to Amazon are fast, as their return locations are in Kentucky and I have a major UPS hub down the block. I just returned a LCD & DLP projector to Amazon. Dropped them off at the UPS desk on Wednesday morning, they were delivered to Amazon's loading dock at 9pm the next day. That was using just plain jane UPS ground shipping. Could also be that Amazon shipments have some type of priority with UPS, considering they probably UPS largest customer.

I can change the shipping. But I'd rather put the $45 toward a game or something else. $45 just to have it a few days earlier doesn't make sense to me. I think that's what standard was going to cost. forgot. it's been so long since I placed the preorder. I live in southern California and things get here pretty fast anyway (unless it ships from the east coast of course).

I did next-day shipping for games but that's when it was a bargain (like $1 or something).

I'll just have to tolerate the glee I read from you guys as you tear the box open.

Cant you get a free trial of prime?
I think there is also an Amazon facility in Las Vegas if memory serves me correctly so LA and SoCal in general is usually really fast as well.

Funny but it was already confirmed that Major Nelson stated when given the command to turn the Xbox One off you have to confirm it. Your voice has to be registered to the system in order to provide any commands. Plus they are dev kits. No telling what setting parameters are off.

I'm going to record your voice then play it back with "Xbone Off.." Xbone says"do you confirm" then "Yes" biggrin.gif

So if I connect a TiVo into the Xbox One input, then what would be the way to power everything on to just watch TV? Is it "Xbox on" followed by "Xbox switch to TV", or something like that?
I'd assume you just leave the Xbox One "off" (in its sleeping state) and just manually turn on the TV and Tivo on.
I wouldnt be suprised if you could just say, "Xbox, watch TV" and it turned on the Tivo, TV, and Surround sound system.

True!

Those hackers that figured out how to trick the fingerprint detection on the iPad will fine a way.
