I will admit, I am an MS fan. Hell, I am even an Xbox MVP and have been for two years. So to say that I am vested in the Xbox is an understatement.
My biggest issue with this whole resolution, framerate, etc. debate is the fact at this juncture, and this time, MS's console is having early problems. Sure, many have rationalized it that development tools are behind schedule, or that the development teams haven't worked hard enought, but bottom line is that the games people focusing on are not on equal footing.
How can one say that if COD: Ghosts is in 720p, that is ok. If memory serves me right, it is not a NEW engine developed from the ground up, it is still based on the existing one. So how does all this new power of the Xbox One have difficulties. Yes, I know that this has not been confirmed, but MS has been VERY quiet on this issue. And the PS4 is doing, plain and simple.
As for BF4, like it or not, it's running in a higher resolution because at this juncture the PS4 can do it, and the Xbox One cannot. Again, why not.
People say well what about Forza 5, NBA 2K14 and Fifa. Yes, they are supposed to be in 1080p, but I have yet to play final versions of these, and only one is first party game. DR3 has had issues all thorugh development as well. We don't hear as much, if any, negative press regarding developing for the PS4.
In an industry where information is taken to heart, the Xbox One is struggling. Surf the web and you will see more negative articles, rumours or not, about Xbox One such as XBL having issues on the Xbox One, Xbox One units crashing, resolution issues, etc. It's staggering to see so much negative news. Its out there and for those who are yet to make up their minds, this is what they are seeing on game and culture websites. As an Xbox MVP my mind is exploding knowing what they are hearing and seeing in this regard
Microsoft promised the next-generation of gaming and entertainment, but so far so much negative press is piling up against them. For the record, I have my Xbox One pre-ordered and paid for, but all this press is disheartening to say the least. Do I believe in their long term goal, you bet I do, but you can't help but get a bit affected by all the stuff that is being said, and much of Microsofts dodging and weaving.
Anyhow, I still look forward to many of the games, but all the negative press is not fun at all.
