Powerful system, no games, half-assed UI, and controller still sucks!
If Microsoft were to allow their info and reviews to be released at say 12pm pst, they could move in for the kill and I think persuade some people to spend $100 more for a better system.
This post irked me. This post perfectly resembles the South Park joke "that's how xbox people are."
No one in the PS4 thread is crapping on the xbone UI. From the vids, it's going to be pretty legit.
I just wanted jump in here and say I picked up the PS4 last night and the controller is great; I held the manager's xbone controller and it's significantly different, almost apples and oranges. I have no opinion on it because we couldn't test a game on it. The xbone controller looks slick with the gloss on top, but it looks like it'll be easily scratched up too...and NO ONE CARES because it plays games as it's not a piece of jewelry.
The PS4 UI is extremely snappy, streamlined, and unobtrusive and nothing like the "choppy" online video reviews of it. I can't fathom why any mature AVSer would form a UI opinion based on a few choppy videos. I plan on playing games mostly, the same as I did on the 360 but unlike the 360, I appreciate not seeing ads. The PS4 UI is simple and nothing like Xbone Metro. If you get both consoles, you are getting 2 very different experiences.
I would wager the PS4 XMB style is not half-assed UI, but made exactly the way the gamers wanted it. There is obviously less "CEO directed monetization" implemented in the dashboard, unlike the 360 and Xbone. Sony builds gamer cred this way while Microsoft makes money their way.
I probably made a mistake in patronizing this post, but it seems sensible to me.
