Does anyone know if Amazon had a preorder limit? I'm contemplating trying to get a second one. I don't see anything about it on their site.

Just came back from the Microsoft store, lots of games and accessories are already out for sale. They had 3 Xbox One demo units, 2 with Forza and one with KI. Big signs announcing launch party starting Thursday at 10pm with prizes, contests and giveaways.
The guy told me they only have 10 units available for walk ins so whomever wants to try their luck needs to get there as early as possible!
I was tempted to buy some games but I've already decided I'm going all digital this gen, but couldn't left the store empty handed biggrin.gif

Awesome Soycrema!

My Tuesday prep work is completed...

Just need the actual console to arrive and pick-up Forza 5-LE, DR3, & Ryse (depending on the reviews) on Friday.

No money out of pocket for anything but the console thanks to Target's buy 2 get 1 free deal and after selling off the old Blu-ray player (PS3). Good times.

I think I may head to their store tomorrow to check it out. May buy a controller since I didn't order one yet. Cannot wait until Friday

They just need to start being more proactive. Boogie got 5 million hits from the Sony Visit so Its good to see the Major making the trip and having a good time.

Makes me think it was an afterthought and they need to work hard to do it.

For many people Twitch is not an issue, but for others, like myself, who runs a smaller but rather succesful website in Canada, this was a great way to do some gameplay streaming without any hassles. It's a feature I was looking foward too.

Oh well, picking up my pre-order on Friday and gonna enjoy some Xbox gaming in my media room for sure.

Actually, most gamers don't want to livestream. the only people that actually do that are those that want to make it a living. build a persona and have regular live events. Even your friends probably don't want to watch you in real time (the 8PM showing starring #*$^#). Seriously, the only livestreaming that people actually watch en masse are tournaments like SSFIV or Star Craft. It'd be a neat option to have. But I doubt I'd ever use it.

What people really want is the ability to record and archive. I record me and friends playing games, including the chat audio. It was for us to watch our gaming history and the fun times we had. Didn't expect to get a couple thousand subscribers along the way. I'd never do livestreaming. For one thing, there'd be expectations (I'd actually have to be a good gamer and would actually have to try to entertain people) and there would have to be regularity. I don't have the time to regularly host viewing shows. And I'd think it'd just hurt my psyche to see no one watching. I'm shocked when I get 50K views. That's something I never expected.

The basic headset is included with the One, but from what I remember it's pretty cheap and just covers 1 ear, right?

Assuming the above are correct, there's the TB Ear Force 4's & 7's , the Astro A40, and the Polk Audio headset that are our options, correct?

EDIT: Just read that all 3rd party headsets are delayed until early 2014. And Microsoft doesn't have their own headset aside from the one that's bundled. So....that sucks.

I have the X12s as well (combined with the DSS2 to get surround sound). I plan to do the ghetto way until the adapter comes out (or native headsets that don't need the adapter). Put the cheap included chat mic around my neck for the chat audio. use the X12s via optical to get the game audio. set the setting to combine game and chat audio to come through the speaker.

good enough until a real solution comes out.

...so i'm guessing you exchanged games you got last week for Xbone games? I did the same today but it wasn't easy. Had to go through the manager and they would not give me Dead Rising even though it was out. So I got the sports package - Fifa, NBA2k and Madden. I already have BF4 for 360 which has been sent to amazon for bone copy and I plan to get Rhyse and Forza thursday night.

...also it was weird, but at best buy they had tons of controllers out but none with play and charge kit which is what I want.

Hi soundwhat,

You are exactly right. I swapped out my B2G1 "placeholder" PS4 games for XB1 games today.

Not too much trouble, I had to wait for the right cashier who understood it was a simple exchange + price adjustment, but it worked out ok. I think it helps if it's on a Target Red Card (plus the extra 5% savings).

It's funny that you mention the Dead Rising issue. My Target put it out early also. I tried to buy it, but it would not ring up in their systems (Friday street date alarm). I went back and forth between the CS & Electronics counters several times but it all worked out in the end.

Edit: My closest Best Buy had a ton of play & charge kits, with & without controllers today. GameStop maybe?

Enjoy your new system & games!

I'm going to try and pick up one (I guess a second), but that is for a friend who took to damn the first time to get his pre-order in. I'm hoping between the both of us we manage to get one. Though I'll have to talk to him and figure out what to do if we both end up getting one!

I watched IGN's video of a Wii U connected to HDMI in on a Xbox One. Obviously isn't very practical, but does anyone know if the XB1 is doing any processing and creating that lag when the XB1 is shutdown in standby mode? They only showed it with the XB1 actively on.

Perhaps it leaves the signal untouched when powered down?

I bet it doesn't work at all.
Really? I could've swore we had confirmation a long time back that it would pass the signal through even in standby mode.

Well after looking at some reviews it looks like speech isn't working perfectly yet. 85% of the time or something like that. Hopefully it doesn't take MS long to tweak everything to work the way they designed it to. I cannot wait until Friday!

Is there a chat pad attachment for launch? Losing that would be a step backwards where I'm concerned.

if there's a way to make money, Microsoft will find it. On the other hand, maybe they won't with SmartGlass. Now you can use your phone, tablet, PC, USB keyboard, wireless keyboard, etc. to type. Plus, now we have the QR code scanning.

Polygon's review is up and it's well-made. Definitely worth a read:

What about speech recognition? Won't it be able to type what you say? I know my Nexus 7 Gen2 does an excellent job with this. I would think the XBOne would be even better. Which would be much quicker than typing something in.

Does Target have Forza yet ? I need to return my sealed BF4 (PS4) for Forza.
Reviews I've seen so far say it's got potential. That's not so bad as they also say the flaws this far can be corrected with software updates....

Seems fesable. Kotakus review and adam sealers review seemed to hammer it but stating the above.

I'm still excited!

Eurogamer says 19W at standby, 65W idle, 125W max. Unfortunately for those who want to save power, they said a cold boot takes over a minute, while waking from standby takes ~10 seconds.

One really weird thing though is that they say it supports LPCM or DTS output. So the 360 only supports DD passthrough and now the One only supports DTS passthrough? If so, ridiculous. (Maybe those are the options for gaming, and Blu-Ray has more choices, I'd hope?)

Hmm... they rated the XBOne a half point higher than they rated the PS4. 8 vs. 7.5

Oops, Eurogamer measured wake from standby at 18 seconds, I was confusing it with another site (and can't edit the post from my phone for some reason.)

Here's The Verge article and video (of course, written covers a lot more territory than video):

http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/20/5117320/microsoft-xbox-one-review

here's the summary:

7.8 Verge Score

Good Stuff
Strong launch lineup
"Snapping" video apps perfect for multitaskers
Kinect voice commands can be powerful

Bad Stuff
Clunky TV integration
Uninspired design
Kinect voice commands are unreliable

When Microsoft says it's building a console for the next decade, it's not lying. Where the PlayStation 4 is designed to simply become an ever-better version of itself, the Xbox One is poised to turn into an entirely different, entirely unprecedented device. It may not only supplement, but replace your cable box; it could have a rich, full app store; games are only going to get better, more impressive, and more interactive. The blueprints are all here. Virtually everything Microsoft is trying to do is smart, practical, and forward-thinking — even as they've undone some of the Xbox One's most future-proof innovation over the last few months, Marc Whitten and his team at Microsoft have clearly kept their heads in the future.

But nearly everything that could be great someday isn't great right now. The Kinect is an incredible piece of raw machinery and engineering, but it's not implemented well into games, nor does its voice control provide a truly fast, seamless way to navigate the operating system. The TV integration is an awkward hodgepodge of menus and overlays and dead ends. There's a massive opportunity for Windows apps to turn the Xbox into something no one could have imagined, but it's as yet gone unexplored. Some of these are easily solved problems, but others — cable integration in particular — are a much steeper uphill climb.

Today, the Xbox One is a great gaming console with a few great games — Zoo Tycoon and Forza are both excellent, better than anything currently available for the PS4, and Dead Rising is a blast even if it’s flawed. Whether or not the Xbox is better than the PS4 is entirely subjective: if you're committed to buying a console this holiday season, buy the one with the games you want. It's too soon to make a call on almost any other feature. Don't buy an Xbox One expecting to immediately throw out your entertainment center.

The Xbox One is here for a decade. If Microsoft can deliver on all its promises in that time, it will have built a console truly worthy of Input One — but that's a big if.

I hope that doesn't supplant it but rather supplements it. There's something to be said for having the keyboard integrated into what you're already holding for those of us regularly taking advantage of the ability to send a text message, entering our name in a game, etc.

Particularly seems important despite not needing to type in redemption codes anymore when I believe cross platform communication is text only. I understand not everyone took regular advantage of text messaging, but if you want to send a message to your buddy over on the 360 and you're on the XB1, you have no choice.
