My volume control didn't seem to work on the headphone output until I discovered I had the volume set as "fixed"! All is well now.

If that's the case then you've found a bug. The "fixed" setting only applies to the main analog outputs. The headphone volume control (settable at any time using the entry in Setup), or settable WHILE THE HEADPHONE JACK IS PLUGGED IN using the buttons on the remote, should always be "variable".

I was just using my headphones last night and headphone volume via the remote worked fine even though I have the "fixed" setting in place for the main analog outputs.

I set it back to "fixed" and the headphone level still works...I don't what was going on when I first tried it.

Finally, the next Oppo should be a streamer only product, or Oppo should offer a network streamer only product. The unit I'd hope to have is one with fewer/no licensing restrictions so that I can more easily put/play all my music and video on/from a NAS (read full menu support for DVDs and BRs). Perhaps the only exception to this, and the only reason I'd buy another disc player, is if they offered an option to rip my SACDs to disk.

Read my mind Stlyn ; leaving out the disc drive has br file advantages [not the least cinavia ] that seem to being excluded from the 93/95 era..

It would be a unique proposition in the market to incorporate room eq ; 1st of its kind would sell easily imo considering also it's almost there with it's hdmi ins smile.gif Simple measure to have user retrofitted upgrade boards say for a separate hdmi pcb with a few ribbon connectors for the wonderful hdmi ''standard ''..

Reality would preclude some of this though I spose especially with a possible new bd mvec /bdxl standard just around the corner ; cant see oppo not facilitate by utilizing its twin hdmi outs to do a workaround for all the hdmi1.4 avr's extant for example .

There is already an Oppo anticipation thread. I will merge the two later when I get home.
