Thanks for the tips!
My TV was delivered yesterday.
A few more questions, most of which may have been answered already:
1). Any tips for "break in", etc? (Either pre-calibration, or to avoid burn-in/IR)
2). What's the trick for the best gaming mode? Rename a certain input? And what are the best tweaks for video settings for gaming?
3). People have generic calibration settings for a [very] bright room?
4). Any gotchas I should be looking out for? Best I can tell, it doesn't buzz loudly, but are there any other quality control issues I should be checking for before the return period ends?
5). Anyone have any better ideas for who to have mount the TV other than Geek Squad? I need to get as thin a mount as possible, because I'm really running up against my minimal viewing distance (the thing is almost TOO big for my apartment). Should I do it myself? If so, I'm thinking Monoprice for the mount. But Geek Squad will give me a basic mount and install it for $220, apparently, and if they warranty that, it might be worth it.
6). Is there any way to get 5.1 audio to my AVR from the built in SmartTV apps? Will the optical digital out carry that? Or are all the apps limited to 2.0 only?
Thank you SO much for your help. And for those of you lurking -- who don't yet own the TV -- check my "Found Deals" post in the 8500 thread for a SCREAMING pricematch at BB.
