Excellent feedback, thanks guys!
Upon further review, and given our completely unscientific ear test, I'm gonna change my tune a little. The JOAT's efficiency seems squarely in between the B&Ws and the 2π. It may have something to do with the FR of each speaker, but the B&W just seem to really lose the mids & highs in favor of pounding bass. I think this is a compromise that a lot of little bookshelves make. Granted, they are 1/3 or 1/4 the volume of the 2π.
The JOAT is a fine little speaker, and I'm plenty happy with them for the size & money. I don't have a dedicated theater, so they fit quite well in my living room as surrounds. I don't think you should change a thing.

I'm sure we'll be able to level match them, but the room dominates so it won't be anything super scientific. I may want to write some notes, though, to try and keep track.
There are a couple of ABQ audiophiles on here who have PM'd me, but they're in that $20,000 preamp club that we talked about last night, and I've never met them...

The B&W 804s are nice looking, and it's been my experience that they really shine on music. They are less composed at high volume when reproducing the dynamic content of movies. I have no doubt that Pete's upcoming 7π will (should) exceed them on movies, but I'm also curious to see how they'll compare for music.
