As is true for most people in SW Florida, our lanai makes a better living room than most people's living room does. The only thing missing is a home theater. We thought about mounting an LCD until we learned that condensation from temperature changes can be deadly even if your screen is shielded from rain. And, the prices of the outdoor LCD's are beyond what we care to spend. A projector, on the other hand, would be easy to bring into the house when not in use.
Unfortunately, everything I can find about outdoor projector application is aimed at people who want to create a drive-in theater type of experience. In fact, even reviews of indoor projection equipment assume that you want a 100"+ screen. So, because everyone is discussing enormous pictures, we are told that we need an environment with little or no ambient light.
Are there any reasonably priced projector/ screen combos that might do reasonably well in a 400-1000 lux environment? (Outdoors, in the shade) We would only want it to create a 50-60 inch diag image. Imagine the projector between the two chairs and the screen a few feet behind where the picture taker was standing.
Thanks in advance for your help.
