When you factor in how much money you earn racing (I've earned about 250,000 credits after completing two series), filling up your garage will take a lot longer. Personally, I view this change as a cash grab on Microsoft's part, trying to push the player to spend more money to buy tokens to buy cars quickly. Whereas the prior games rewarded you for playing and leveling up your character, here you are asked to spend a lot more real money if you want to get cars more quickly. Hopefully this won't become a trend; I know I'll be voting with my wallet. While I don't mind paying for extra content that genuinely extends a game, I really feel MS is trying to gouge early adopters with this game, especially as all the DLC cars were available for sale on the day the game was released.
Well I agree in part with your rationale here I can't say that I fully give it a "nod".
I thought Forza 4 rewarded you WAY too much as giving cars out the way they did made it less of a reward and almost an expectation. I would be like "oooooo, what car did I get for this level?" ANd I never drove all of them either and found myself selling quite a few of them.
I think that Forza 5 is encouraging more driving and 'grinding' this time around. That being said, they did take away the rewards peroid and it can make it somewhat disappointing. A car as a reward is satisfying and a nice treat, so why not?
And yes, the pricing for buying cars with in-game money is quite high, and the use of tokens gives those that want to waste the money on such an advantage right off the hop per se, but really, I think the game wants you to work at it if you're not going to spend the money.
In regards to the Car Packs, I have to say that I am disappointed that they only open them up to buy. I think for the $50 dollar "Seasons Pass" that is being charged that they could have given players a few free ones each pack along with those that are new to buy. By charging people the money for the "Seasons Pass" then making the cars only available for purchase with in-game credits/paid tokens is kinda a kick in the groin.
As for DLC tracks, I am keeping my fingers crossed, as I think a few tracks would reward the Forza faithful and would be nice to have, and they should indeed incorporate them into the career mode somehow, but I don't know the logisitics of having new DLC tracks put into the existing career and if it is even possible.
