Forza 5 10 years in the making - Page 17

I finally got to set up my Xbox One last night and downloaded Dead Rising 3. Well, I started the download, but it was too slow so I didn't get to play it yet. It still gifted the Day One bonuses. However, I saw no indicaton that Forza was still offering the Day One bonuses. Does anyone know if I am too late for that party? Also, if I buy it now on my iPad, will it start downloading right away so I can play it when I get home? I didn't see anything in the settings where I had to select that option. I am assuming the games I had downloading and queued when I turned off the Xbox continued to download overnight. I guess I'll find that out when I get home today.

First off, I love Forza 5

With that out of the way, there are only 14 tracks in the normal game right ? Are there more tracks available for purchase right now ? If so, how much are they charging for the tracks ? If there aren't any extra tracks available now, when are they coming ?

Also, if you have to buy some dumb arse bundle for extra tracks and cars, what about the people that could give a F less about more cars, but do want more tracks. Will there be a seperate track pack ?

( i know all these questions could have been answered if I read this whole thread, but I'm at work right now and don't want to get fired, lol )

Agreed 100%...I hit the 80 gold achievement last night, I have been spending a lot of time on this game, as I have with all past Forza games. The problem is there is only 14 tracks, so every time I start a new race "we now go back to ...." it's starting to get old and I am still on the cheap cars...

If they make tracks for DLC, they should give them to us for free to upgrade the game. Yea, it's a pretty game and is fun but, I feel short changed because of all the tracks and cars I got in Forza 4 alone...

Anyone know if you can extend the Kinect cable for the XboxOne? 9 feet won't cut it for me. I contacted MS support and they didn't have any info yet. Except he said that the specs said it was a proprietary cable. I can't see why MS would've made a new cable with all the options out there already. Oh ya I can think of one reason, $$$. smile.gif But I still don't think its a new cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Monoprice said on Twitter that they are working on an extension cable. Hoping to have it out by early 2014.

I think I've been playign Forza 5 too much. On the way to work in traffic today I kept noticing cars and thinking, I saw that car in Forza 5, and that one and that one. And in real life they looked just like in the game. No idea why today I was suddenly noticing this. Since I'm not into cars at all in real life.

Has anyone got one of the drivatars to flip over? I got one the other day and his engine sound made it sound like he was just trying to drive like normal. I spent a few minutes smashing him over and over just for fun and got to test the "xbox record that" function. I lost the race but was quite happy anyway. smile.gif..... hope it doesnt affect my drivatar too much.

My brother saved a clip of a huge crash. He drives with the in car view. He gets pummeled and is turned backwards among about 5 cars. As he tries to straighten out, a car smashes into him from behind and then you can see it up on top of his car. Almost his whole windshield was the bottom of the car. The car fell off but stayed right side up I think.

Some low-qual captures I took from Forza 5, most with my 775hp Atom 500 V8 (god that thing is fun to drive)
The game itself is gorgeous, but when you use the built in capture function, it renders at 720p in crap quality for file size, such a shame. But I love when something cool happens I just go "Xbox, record that" and bam, clip captured, kinda nice.

does skydrive have a youtube export or are you doing it manually?
I honestly have no idea if it does. i just did it manually since the biggest of those vids is only like 13mb. I really wish they would export full res and not scale it down.

This happened the first time to me last night except that it was their own fault. I forgot about the Xbox record that function. lmao - anyway, i was trying to pass this guy on the outside and inexplicably he veered right into me as i was approaching him. I scraped the wall and maybe since my car could move no more to the right, the energy went back into his own drivatar and he flipped over and behind me. I didn't lose too much time so I felt it was karma for that drivatar. haha

I think I am level 35 or so now. I have quite a few hours in at least... I have to say some of the tracks turn into a turn 1/2 cluster with the ping pong AI cars but what is really bothering me is that Forza 5 still has "magic" cars. What I mean by that is that they seem (Like every console racing game I have ever played) to ignore the rules of the game.

This is most apparent when a drivatar misses the turn and runs out into the grass / pavement. Kudos to the AI, it does make mistakes. But why the hell is that AI car maintaining speed in the rough! My car would lose speed truing to drive out there if not outright stop dead.

Another example is damage... if I rear end a car at 130mph I am going to take serious engine, transmission, downfroce and break damage making my car lose significant top speed and steering not to mention making my breaking all sorts of poor. And yet a drivatar can slam into me from behind, then pass me while I am recovering. ARGH!
I'm having to much fun with this game. Also, I've been impressed with the lap times of those here at AVS, as I can't even come close to them. I haven't experienced a flip over yet, in fact one the best moments for me was when major nelson and lollip0p spun each other out at the start of the race because it happened right in front of me. I just couldn't stop laughing.

As far as the magic cars, I really haven't experienced that to that degree. I know when I go over i can recover quick enough so I don't lose much, however if i go into gravel or sand it does stop me right quick. Also the damage can be there, you just need to adjust the "assists" and increase the damage toggle. Although it is tough to race that way, I tried it and didn't last to long.
I love this game! It is a bit even that you have to play every day in order to bank your drivatar rewards but it's a small price.

You can tailor the experience which means you can have a different playing field. Some people turned off damage for instance because of the rough driving but some people have it on to earn the extra rewards. Also, you can adjust the drivatar settings.

I like having damage on, it keeps me from racing dirty... I just wish the drivatars were affected by damage. That way if they did slam into you it would hinder their performance.

This is my main reason why I leave the damage turned off. If they are are going play dirty I might as well play dirty too;) It's not like I go looking to ram people, but I have not bad feelings if I bump into someone when I'm going around a congested corner. Often times it's because someone bumped me first!
I wonder why they didnt make damage affect the drivatars? Would it be because you would almost always get a bronze metal just by haning back while the drivatars all took each other out? It just doesn't make sense in a game like this that you play with one set of rules and the drivatars play with another. Unlike say a FPS in which case its like 100000 enemies to 1 so there should be different rules.

I've been playing the tar out of this game since I got my Xbox One the weekend before last, I'm around level 120 and have about 60% or so of the game completed. I've got all the cars I need at this point to finish the game and enough other cars to keep up some curious tomfoolery.

Right now I'm playing on the 3rd highest difficulty and it's still way too easy, I'm almost always leading within the first lap, I probably need to bump that up one more (right below "Impossible" or whatever it's called). I've got some decent track times and have many ranked in the 50-400 mark, which is surprising because I've hardly done any tuning on any of the cars. Most of them I have in the 1000 mark or so. I played a few online races for the first time and couldn't help but laugh, all you need to do is avoid the idiots crashing into each other on the first turn or two and then I destroyed every one each time. biggrin.gif

Some of the very top lap times are unbelievably quick, I can't even touch them - I'm often 10 seconds or so slower. I've watched a few of their videos and there is a lot of skill involved, they are much smoother than I can manage with the joysticks and they are able to keep up their speed very well. All I really have going for me is that I know the tracks and adapt okay to each car.

My friend also showed me that forzamotorsports site yesterday and I got 4,320,000 credits. I really think the game should just give more credits for each win, it makes no sense that you can spend 6 million on a car, then race for 10k per race and 12k for the entire series. I generally hate the entire menu structure of the game, and not labeling the engine swaps is amateur hour. Why do I need to load the next track before I can quit? Why is it that when you start up the series that you don't have a car for, your only option is to buy a pre-tuned car? Why does my drivatar suck ass? I'm top 1-10% on almost every track in every class with boat loads of perfect turns and passes. My drivatar only makes roughly 3k a day (usually 3 races a day), it seems like its going to need to be much more than that to ever get the 1 million achievement. Just so many things that really drive me nuts.

Only three races a day? I logged into Forza 5 yesterday and had over 40 races my Driveatar had been in over the previous few days. It sounds like your Driveatar is too good to be in the races with most of us. That would explain why it would be in less races. i certainly would not expect a driveatar at your level to be in any of my races. I would get blown away.
Yeah, only 3 races each day, every day is the same. I don't understand it, and the races I am in I'm certainly not doing well, but why is that? If my lap times are better than 90-99% of the world, you'd think out of 16 players in the race that my Drivatar could place fairly well consistently but that isn't the case at all. Completely worthless and overhyped cloud tech in my experience. My Drivatar sync is at ~60% for the record.

Seems to me that either the Drivatar isn't learning how I race, or can't race how I race?!? Do I need to suck to get races and place? I don't know. I've been playing serious racing games like this since GT1 but this is new tech. As for why I'm not in many races, I have no idea. You'd think that when any other player races, there are 15 Drivatars in it, that would mean any given player should be in a ton of races each day.
your drivatar is probably getting matched up with appropriate competitors. it would suck if us common racers had to race against the likes of you and your drivatar.

and I remember there are settings to choose the quality or difficulty of the drivatar. Merely by the settings I have chosen, I doubt I'll ever race your drivatar as I chose average drivatars to race against.

your post made me curious what my drivatar earnings were...

12/09/13: 42 races, earned 13,338 CR
12/07/13: 55 races, 11,438
12/06/13: 25 races, 9700
12/05/13: 40 races, 7288
12/03/13: 8 races, 3240
12/02/13: 58 races, 9455
11/30/13: 13 races, 3875
11/29/13: 68 races, 13,365
11/28/13: 30 races, 8880

I think it is all based on luck on who you racing with and how good they are. If your Drivatar finishes ahead of the player a bigger payout is my guess. I would be curious as to what ranking I get on some of those races besides the credits.
I had the chance to try this now and I'm impressed that the AI isn't the same old stale rolling roadblocks since frankly I wasn't buying into their claims.

But who knew that we had so many up and coming Kamikaze pilots. I hope they're able to tone things down a bit to provide some realism. Part of me wonders if it's just not imperfect AI rather than really learning from the players themselves that's responsible which is why they've turned off damage for them so that they're able to finish races without issue. I want to be raced hard and don't mind a bit of bumping and banging, but some of what I saw was ridiculous.

There has to be a way to provide a compromise so that the AI is cautiously aggressive. And if it's really learning these techniques from the public, there has to be a way to weed the bad people out or specify a certain percentage of clean drivatars.

In one day you were upwards of 10x as many races as I've been in during the entire same time span, weak.

I'd really like to see video of my Drivatar, personally I feel it's a load of crap at this point. I raced multiplayer online for the first time on Sunday and some more yesterday, I think I won my first 20 races in a row in the P class even with all the a-holes trying to take me out (even as I was lapping them rolleyes.gif). I finally lost a couple after that, legitimately, which was nice.

However, once you drop down to the lower classes, it becomes a complete and total $h!t show. Nobody knows how to race and all people do is try to hit each other. What is the point? I raced D-S and have nothing positive to say about the experience - I think if I ever race there again I will only do so with damage enabled because it's downright ridiculous without it. I assume P and X classes would be the same but these clowns don't have the skill needed to control the car and wipe me out on the first couple turns before they never see me again. wink.gif

Just read through the last few pages and didn't see and answer to my question.

How in the heck do you set up a private match for you and a friend? We tried everything we could to create a race but only got as far as being in a party but I wasn't able to invite him to a game and he couldn't do the same. So we basically just tried to find a race at the same time and it dumped us both in the same lobby.

Yea it was a Pain in the Ass to figure out for me as well. I'm going to do this from memory so I may be off on this. Go into multiplayer, create a private Race/Match. Once you select your car got to the car/change options on the top and hit A. It will bring up a menu to choose. Select Invite Party (you don't need anyone in your party at this point). Once you select that it will bring up your friends list and then select the friend(s) you wish to invite to the party/game. It may take a few tries to navigate around to figure out where all the options are. Hope this helps.

I looked at my drivatar and it hasn't raced very many games each day also. Over 5 days I had 56 races with 25333 in earnings. That's only 452 per race (I assume its not placing very well) . It just seams kinda a joke if that's all they are going to get. I would like to see more money given out for them. I would also like to see more info like what place they took. I think its a cool idea and all. I like racing against others this way, but looking at the money they win for you and not knowing much else makes them not very important. I also want to apologize to anyone that has raced against my drivatar, because I was informed by a friend at work that its very aggressive when racing. I really like the game a lot. I haven't played since Forza 2 so its just a great game to me.
