They reveal in the interview that there are 2 types of gameplay. Multiplayer story mode w/cinematics and what sounds like straight up TDM, Dom, CTF, etc., etc., ......

Link to the interview with Vince Zampella and the 2 new Titans shown at VGX yesterday -

this is the game that will dictate which system goes in the basement first (i.e. PS4 or another XBOX One)

I'd like to pre-order this on a couple of conditions. Go ahead and add, maybe someone at MS will listen:

1) I want the ability to "pre-load" the frakking game. Let me download the muddafugga starting a week before the game releases. This ensures that bandwidth utilization is spread out and hedged over the week. More importantly it allows me to play my fruggin game the same fruggin day that it releases!
2) Pre-orders automatically mean you get an invite to the beta
3) they better have quick scope and drag scope fixed though I have a hard time picturing a titan doing the quick scope thang
4) someone made mention of this but please make it refreshingly simple again. Like COD4 simple.

anyone else?

I am worried that they're using same ole engine. Here's hoping that the engine has enough legs to properly deliver a next experience. Now I don't pretend to technically understand what's under the hood but I am smart enough to understand what they're talking about at a high level (prediction, client/server side physics computations, etc) and hope that they can deliver. Cloud computing is a smart way to leverage MS's resources for gaming, it could mean that next gen might not be about the games but the experiences due to improvements in the infrastructure.

Am I off base in saying that we are in the golden age of gaming? Now, campaign games are about story telling and immersion while multiplayer gaming is about the experience? Is about saving that moment? 720p vs. 1080p = no game play advantages. It's still the same damn game.

TitanFall, I have high hopes for you. High like 3 UAV-5 Air Strike-7 Chopper kill streak high!

Mike, titanfall runs on a heavily modified version of the source engine (valve's engine that powers half-life, portal and left4dead) so there is no connection to the old id sourced IW engine. Still, I'd be surprised if there weren't similarities in the gameplay as they'll likely look to make it feel as comfortable as possible for veteran cod players.

The source engine has roots in the quake engine in the distant past as well. The same logic that leads people to declare cod is an old engine applies equally to the source engine and anything built from it.

It's bad logic, but nevertheless, if anyone wants to declare titanfall a new engine the same goes for either cod engine.

I don't claim to understand this technical aspects but I just want to have the game feel similar yet different enough...Ghost still for me, gonna prestige tonight I hope and work on better ratios

I expect it'll feel as tight as cod. I also expect it'll have similar lag issues.

I cannot imagine the sniping in TitanFalll. I guess pilot vs. pilot sniping is possible but damn if they can snipe people while they wall walk double jumping on top of a Titan

Also, what since there are NPCs that you can also kill, how is that going to affect kill streaks? Is there going to be kill streak rewards system or just plain or something else?

Titans ARE the kill streaks. More kills = more frequent titanfall.

Also, Titanfall is a verb, and that's awesome.
ahh, makes sense now. Does this mean that there can be many titans on a map or similar to just having one class of Titan concurrently. So like a "fast" titan, a "spy" titan and a "soldier" titan can all be alive and laying souls. Still though, will killing NPCs count towards a titan or will certain actions trigger kill streaks. Like kill 50 without dying NPCs and you get a titan vs. get a 3 long range headshot kill streak and you get a Titan. There are balance issues that I want answered damnit!

The way I understand it, everyone eventually gets a Titan, there's a countdown clock to Titanfall right from the start. Good players can whittle the clock down quicker by playing well. I'm sure it's more complicated than that though, but we'll see.

Respawn is like Oprah...you get a Titan, you get a Titan, you get a Titan....EVERYONE GETS A TITAN!

Respawn has stated previously they want your character living longer. In essence, the game is designed in way that you'll die less and have more kills. Their theory being the less you die, the more fun you'll have. The npc's are there to boost your ego and make you feel that you're contributing to the team. wink.gif

I thought she did a good job summing things up and learned a couple things along the way. Plus, she's adorable! tongue.gif

You do understand that the statement "In essence, the game is designed in way that you'll die less and have more kills" is impossible in MP game, right?

can you explain it to me (i am being serious). So i was under the impression that was a MP game just like every other FPS out there, so are there random NPC in a MP game that you can kill? sorry if it is a dumb question...

ohhh, thanks, i personally hate that idea, there is a reason i never play SP in FPS or "bot modes", i like playing against other humans... hopefully they have a "no bots" mode or something like that, because i have no interest in killing bots "to make me feel better"...

That sounds a lot more appealing to me. Maybe because I loved the small scale battles of G.R.A.W.. Plus the additions of A.I. to kill sounds pretty cool as well. A fully offline mode against a ton of A.I. characters would be nice as well.

Titanfall maximum player count set at 6v6

Multiplayer matches of Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall will be capped at 12 players, Respawn founder Vince Zampella confirmed via twitter, outlining that the six human players on each team will be joined by AI support.

"6v6 is max player count. Turned out to be the best balance with AI for us," he wrote, responding to a fan's question about the game's player count. "That's humans only count. There are lots of AI, everyone can have a Titan in follow or guard mode too."

Recent playable demos of the game featured six players a side but the final figure was not officially confirmed. The gameplay showcased during E3 consisted of seven players on a team, with producer Drew McCoy telling Polygon at the time that player count wasn't finalized.

"It's not a technical question for us — we've tested dozens and dozens of players — it's more of a creative and game design question," McCoy told Polygon during E3 2013. "So I think what we showed on Microsoft's stage was 7 on 7, but it really comes down to how many titans can be in play at once, how many AI, what the level is like, and what the mission is. It's something that we change on a weekly basis and playtest a lot. Our goal first and foremost is to make a fun game."

Zampella recently shared that Titanfall will not feature modding or mapping tools at launch; however, the availability of the features will be evaluated post-release. Earlier ths week, it was confirmed that shooter will include sniping minus the effectiveness of quickscoping and no-scoping techniques.

Titanfall hits Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC March 11. The game's Collector's Edition costs $249.99 and includes a 20-inch Titan statue.

A Respawn guy commented in the GAF forums about the 6v6 decision:
Quote:
Lots of armchair game designing going on in here. I'd suggest playing before judging a something as insignificant as a number in a vacuum.

Vince is right - we tried a huge amount of playercounts (all the way down to 1v1 and up quite high) and designed the maps, gameplay mechanics, and entire experience around which played best. If anyone wants to chase the numbers game, perhaps we're not the experience they're after? I dunno.

And FYI, for amount of stuff happening at once in a map you'll be hard pressed to find a game that keeps the action higher. I literally have to stop playing every few rounds because my heart just can't take it some times. Remember, you can get out of your Titan and let it roam on AI mode - meaning there can be 12 Pilots wallrunning around, 12 Titans stomping below, and dozens of AI doing their thing.

Oh, and I keep seeing people thinking we've got "bots" when we talk about AI. Thats not how they are. The AI in Titanfall are not replacements for human players. Our playercount is not 6v6 because of AI - AI play their own role in the game and are a different class of character in the game.

Can't wait! Only a couple months until speculative threads like this are gone and people are actually talking about their experiences with the game. Its truly fun stuff, and I hope everyone at least gives it a try.

I'm not too worried, can't wait to play it.

It is pretty sad he had to even respond to it. The only people complaining are the ones who haven't played it or only seen the video. Like he said Arm chair designers.

Yup, but with web anonymity being the way it is and everyone wanting to voice there opinion, seems it's pretty much par for the course, unfortunately.

I'm actually glad that it's only 6v6. I much prefer the smaller matches of Halo/Gears to the large battles of BF4, etc.
I'm glad it's 6 v 6. Nothing like running around looking for people to shoot on maps too big like the ghost.

It's coming out on March 11th!! I didn't realize it was so soon. That's only a couple of months away.

I just hope MS has pre-downloading available by then.

I just hope it's not broken. I have faith in respawn, but EA somehow manages to ruin everything that they're involved with.
