In fact, I paid more for this disc than any of the 3d movies I have previously purchased and those discs came with one or more of the following: 2d blue-ray/dvd/ultraviolet/digitial copy. I won't be falling for this kind of deal again.
Those posts as well as the shared sentiments throughout the first 6 pages are very interesting. I don't have a lot of money but I love movies. I deleted a long post about why "my friend I know" no longer gets bit-torrent P2P movies, but lets just say that if it weren't for Redbox & pawnshops and the occasional deals at BB for Trade ins, Black Friday etc. I'd still be doing it.
No that most of the major movie studios have joined Ultra-Violet I feel like it's finally the step we were looking for 10+ YEARs ago so after reading extensively about it, I jumped in & literally can play my content (except rare VUDU only things like this) on every device I own.
Envy is what I have of those of you with $30 disposable $$ in this or any economy to be able to buy these movies at release. So I'm in favor of some ways to get the cost down & splitting or offering multiple sets seems like it would be an obvious solution.
Just NOT the way they did it!
I really even like the mail away portion of the deal. How about a reasonable release pricing model or tier & then reasonable pay additional & get a disc mailed to you offers if you want other formats? That keeps packaging artwork & distribution from a centralized location via U.S. postal service (media rate mail) to a bare minimum...
This seems like Disney's attempt not to have people buy the 3 packs and then sell off the DVDs & 3D so they get a free Blu-Ray or some other deferred final cost method; but the execution had NO FAIRNESS to it what-so-ever. If you bought the 3D pack you paid the most upfront & then again if you sent away for the disc, vs someone who got the combo paid less at first & then paid that same amount $5.99 to get the 3D disc as well. The prices are outrageous to begin with from my seat, but at least it should have been FAIR. To get the BR, DVD, D.C. + send away from the 3D and in the end pay less than those that started with the 3D + D.C. is either Dr. Magoo doing the accounting or some bad & greedy calculations. ---> other possibilities like they are trying to punish ~ & ~ kill off 3D but that seems more like a silly conspiracy to me, who knows though.Edited by DA1745 - 8/1/13 at 6:22am
