Official 2013 LG xxLA6900 Owner's Thread - Page 11

Tried a quick search through the thread but couldn't locate anything: anyone had any issue getting the ARC to work through a Sony soundbar? I've got a HTCT260H and I want to get the ARC part working instead of using optical but once I have the HDMI connection hooked up, I try changing the setting from TV Speaker to External Speaker in the TV settings and after approximately 5 seconds or so, it switches back to TV Speaker automatically. The best part is it's fully working for those 5 seconds, I hear it, but it switches back. The soundbar confirms within that time that it sees it because I can control it with volume, etc, in that time.

Any ideas? Driving me insane.

I'm using a standard 5.1 non HDMI system but I'll give it a shot.

Is the HDMI cable connected to HDMI1(ARC) on the display?
Is External Speaker ARC Mode turned on?
Is Control for HDMI turned on for the sound bar?
Is the optical cable hooked at the same time as the HDMI? If so, and all of the above are answered yes, try disconnecting the optical cable. There is a note in the user guide that indicates "Use of a third-party device with an ARC function may cause malfunctions."
All of the above was correct, not positive what did it as I didn't change anything, but I did toggle the Control for HDMI option on the soundbar from off and back to on and then the TV picked up the external speaker on it's own without me having the change the setting. So that did it I guess.

Glad to hear its working for ya now.

I'm getting this TV in the 55in. I'm a huge movie watcher. What are the best picture settings for it?

Trying to watch netflix on my 47" 6900 and a popup comes up to accept the new Netflix privacy policy. I click "I understand" and nothing happens. I cannot get past this screen. Anybody else have this issue? Thanks!

I calibrated my set with a borrowed WOW disc and then accidentally did a reset rolleyes.gif after returning the disc. I then tried the settings found on the LCD Buying Guide website. Since all displays are different, I found these not to my liking either. In the end I'm using the Cinema setting with some settings tweak for my likling.

.

I didn't have an issue after the latest firmware update. Have you checked your firmware?
I spent a bunch of time tweaking the picture settings (use the picture wizard, it helps), but here is what I use, it's the best I can get it...

Picture Mode: Expert1
Aspect Ratio: Just Scan

Backlight: 85
Contrast: 90
Brightness: 59
H Sharpness: 34
V Sharpness: 36
Color: 69
Tint: G3

Expert Control
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Super Resolution: high
Color Gamut: Standard
Edge Enhancer: On
Color Filter: Off
Gamma: 2.2

Picture Option
Noise Reduction: Auto
MPEG Noise a Reduction: Auto
Black Level: Low
LED Local Dimming: High
TruMotion: User
De Judder: 1
De Blur: 10

I hope these settings are good for you, or at least close to what u like. My best tidbit is to either use the above TruMotion User settings or to turn TruMotion OFF.. Otherwise the picture is unwatchable, it makes it look like a cartoon or something, it's awful. I can't imagine why they even gave the TruMotion feature on the tv. Anyway, overall I'm pleased, I replaced a 2010 LG 42" plasma with this set and the 47la6900 has a better picture, so I'm happy.
I'll give them a shot on my 55". Thanks for posting. Can you actually change the De-Judder and De-Blur settings? If I recall I can only adjust the De-Judder setting and there's no De-Blur setting on my set. Yeah, turning up the TruMotion gives it that soap opera effect.

Yeah, on the 47la6900 you can change both the de judder and de blur.. Unless you are in the Game picture setting, then you can't mess with the TruMotion setting at all.

Not sure. Google didn't do a very good job of translating the specs to English. But if I had to take a guess I would say they are similar. It looks like your set has some different options like Time Machine, which mine does not. As far as firmware goes I'm at 05.03.06. What I have tried is calibration settings from another site for my set and they didn't work very well.
Yeah, that's different names but all models are same tv.
I'm from Turkiye and it's called here 47LA690S , i think in UK it's LA690V, and US LA6900. Mine latest firmware is 04.22.11 same as yours. I set up my tv region UK for netflix, but still last firmware is 04.22.11...

Has anyone removed the bottom speaker on the LG 6900 series televisions? I am an installer and took off the bottom speaker yesterday. There is some circuit boards in there that I am unsure about. Other than that it looks fairly straightforward to remove it.
I havent.

It's totally lame that they make a 1.37 inch thick TV and then put a 2.5"-3" speaker on the bottom. That makes zero sense. The TV cannot be flush mounted because of the bottom speaker.

hey guys i recently bought lg la6900 47inch and im looking best picture setting u guys using thanks.

Try these.

I tried the ones for the 55" but found they did not work very well for my set. In the end I wound up using the "Cinema" setting and tweaked to my liking.

Is that a current promo? That's a great price!

It was the last one, they were marking it down as I was walking out of the mall. I had absolutely no use for it, but my entertainment dollar exploded in my pocket. I'm thrilled with it so far. I'm taking it to hang on my wall in my office at work. I'm running out of places to put TVs..

I was disappointed to see that this panel doors not have a dedicate "PC" HDMI port like there was with the LM series. This feature helped with any input lag or judder when gaming. I am hoping that lg sends me a better panel than this one as they are replacing my lm6700 due to horrible light bleed.

Is it true that lg discontinued this model the la6970?

It would appear so. I saw the 50 inch today at Sams and it was marked down.

Not sure if you found the answer to your question but you need to do a reset and re-register of your magic motion remote. From: LG support site:

"re-register the remote control by pressing and holding both the ENTER (OK) and MUTE buttons for 5 seconds. Once the reset is complete, the light on the pointer will blink. Once you have noted this, press the ENTER (OK) button on the remote while aiming it at the TV to register the remote with the TV"

Is it worth the return of the vizio? I do like the design a lot. But have never seen it in person only because I can't find it in stock.

I can't honestly offer an opinion. I have 8 Samsung TVs that I really like and this one LG I just purchased, but mine is a LA6900, and doesn't look the same as this. I've only owned one Vizio TV, a 2012 model and the Smart hub was infuriating on it, I didn't keep it long.
